Over the years, several virologists have told me they believe a lab origin of Covid is more likely than a natural origin. I worried it might've been selection bias but it seems even virologists doing gain-of-function experiments told Kristian Andersen the same in 2020.
In 2020, many still thought virus experiments had been conducted at top biosafety (BSL4).
By 2021, it became better understood the work had been done outside high containment (BSL2) and the scientists had a plan to put furin cleavage sites into unidentified SARS-like viruses.
For those who haven't worked in BSL2s, there's a wide range of accidental and even intentional biosafety lapses that occur. Mainly because scientists working at BSL2 don't expect any real risk of causing a deadly outbreak or seriously harming themselves.
Some BSL2s are incredibly packed, with scientists from multiple groups going in and out of the same small space all day and even night, to the point where there are altercations over who booked which equipment for how long and who left the biohaz waste overflowing or unbleached.
Scientists working long hours under pressure from themselves or professors will sometimes even eat or drink in BSL2 spaces. Some use the same gloved hand that handles viruses or bacteria on their cell phones and earbuds. Some even use their mouths to inflate their used gloves.
If a scientist in Wuhan had created Covid-19 - a highly transmissible, airborne, pandemic-capable coronavirus - and grown this virus and used it for infection experiments at BSL2, it's only a matter of time before lab personnel are infected.

Reminder: David Morens, who was senior advisor to Anthony Fauci, emailed the Proximal Origin authors and their colleagues in Sep 2021, saying he always tries to use his personal gmail and will delete any emails he doesn't want to see in the New York Times.
Morens is facing indictment for evading Freedom of Information Act requests, which is exactly what he described in email to the Proximal Origin authors and their colleagues.
“These allegations represent a profound abuse of trust at a time when the American people needed it most—during the height of a global pandemic... Dr. Morens and his co-conspirators deliberately concealed information and falsified records in an effort to suppress alternative theories regarding the origins of COVID-19." justice.gov/usao-md/pr/for…
The Proximal Origin authors were working for Fauci on Covid origins. They called David Morens Fauci's right hand man and believed Fauci could convince the Sec of State and CIA to pursue a natural origin of Covid.
New Proximal Origin slack messages (till 2022) show, in late 2021, these influential virologists
1⃣Knew it was plausible Wuhan scientists had created Covid-19 (genetically modified origin)
2⃣Were still talking to Anthony Fauci's people about Covid origins
3⃣Joked they would be awarded grants automatically
When the 2018 Defuse proposal leaked, showing Wuhan scientists had been given the idea to put furin cleavage sites into SARS-like viruses, the Proximal Origin authors knew the experiments could've gone ahead and they didn't know what genetic engineering strategy and virus backbone the Wuhan scientists would've used.
They hadn't been sufficiently warned by Peter Daszak about these Covid blueprints from 2018.
"I would just like to discuss what our strategy should be so we don't get associated with these f**kers."
"... it is worse than he was suggesting a few days ago. He's a jacka**."
New York🇺🇸-based MV Hondius cruise passenger who disembarked on Apr 24 went to a Hanoi🇻🇳 conference last week for extreme travelers (150 guests who've visited 100+ countries), potentially passing through Hong Kong🇨🇳 Bangkok🇹🇭. Her current location is unknown @JSweetLI reports...
@JSweetLI ... previous hantavirus outbreaks didn't have this kind of opportunity to race around the world.
"MV Hondius is a pricey, adventurous expedition—costing passengers between $8,500 to $17,000—and so it attracted world travelers crossing bucket list sights" jacquelinesweet.substack.com/p/a-second-wom…
@JSweetLI Hantavirus-exposed cruise passengers going on world tour are not breaking any laws. @WHO had said they were low-risk contacts, only changing to high-risk around May 9 or 10.
Some question the motivations of the whistleblower this morning.
His testimony can be checked by looking at names of experts recommended by Fauci to IC, the 2022 CIA report & 2023 report before it was changed overnight, and a redacted form of the 2,000-page classified report.
