🚨🚨Andy Burnham became Prime Minister on Monday. Within five days he has opened “No.10 North” in Manchester — complete with contracts, furnishings, services, security, a logo, printed signs and banners, and held his first official meeting there.

If anyone believes this happened spontaneously after he took office, they are kidding themselves. Secure government premises do not appear overnight. Security-cleared staff, protected communications, utilities, approved contractors, furniture, branding design, print runs and physical setup all require advance work - often months of it. Intelligence and security considerations alone make a genuine five-day turnaround from a standing start highly improbable.

This raises obvious questions: How long have senior Labour figures been preparing the ground to remove Keir Starmer and install Andy Burnham? Was the No.10 North operation planned and advanced while Burnham was still Mayor, or while the leadership challenge was still unfolding? Government contracts, security clearances and official branding do not move at this speed without prior orchestration.

The British public has watched a rapid transfer of power and the instant launch of a parallel Downing Street operation in the North. Mainstream coverage has largely treated the speed as unremarkable. That is not how transparent democracy usually looks.

Full details on the temporary Heron House base, the longer-term Digital Campus plans, and the timeline:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No._10_No…
The No.10 North suite at Heron House was not space the government already controlled under GCHQ’s existing lease.
GCHQ has occupied its own portion of the building (around 13,000 sq ft) since late 2019. No.10 North is using a completely separate suite of more than 4,700 sq ft that required a new sub-lease.

That means new arrangements had to be put in place for:
• The lease itself
• Phone lines and secure communications
• Utilities and services
• Furniture and fit-out
• Additional security and access controls
• Reception and branding (including the logo)

None of this happens overnight. Even a relatively simple logo involves design work, approvals and decisions about messaging and audience. Sign-offs, security clearances, procurement and physical setup all take time.
Given the short window between Burnham taking office and the official opening, these practical steps point to preparatory work that must have started months before he became Prime Minister.
I’ve found the details on when the lease for No.10 North was agreed - 10th June! Andy wasn’t even an MP then - he was elected in Makerfield on the 18th June!
11th May - the date Manchester City Council agreed to lease Floor 2 of Heron House (No10 North). 3 days later, Josh Simons resigned as MP of Makerfield. 🤷‍♀️ Image
11th May - Manchester City Council agreed to lease 2nd Floor Heron House (No.10 North)
14th May - Josh Simons resigns as MP for Makerfield
10th June - Manchester City Council confirms Heron House lease agreement
18th June - Andy Burnham ‘wins’ Makerfield election
20th July - Andy Burnham becomes PM, no opposition!
24th July - Floor 2 Heron House officially opens as No.10 North.Image

A plan they couldn’t execute until after 9th June 🤔 Image
