Go ahead and mark Wednesday, December 20, 2017 as the day that the myth of “economic anxiety” as justification for White working class people voting Trump/the @GOP was officially debunked as blatant BULLSHIT PROPAGANDA. ✅

Seriously, 57% of White Americans voted Trump (the only demographic to give him a majority) because they allegedly thought he’d make them financially secure. I need to see the math on how many of them will benefit from the #GOPTaxScam.

Also the ignorance and gullibility in question here isn’t just confined to the 57% who voted for this, because a sizable chunk of the 43% who didn’t still grant legitimacy to “economic anxiety” propaganda and think chasing the WWC is imperative (eg Bernie), so welp.
Included in this number are also the scores of White people who think “both parties are the same” and either didn’t vote or voted for Jill/Gary (equal to not voting) b/c letting Russia, the Klan and the oligarchs into the WH was a risk they could afford to take.

These reminders have unfortunately become infinitely necessary b/c the White majority’s propensity for developing selective amnesia for the GOP’s fiscal malfeasance every single fucking election is DESTROYING AMERICA.

I know it makes folk uncomfortable to ponder this thought, but I’m sick and fucking tired of people asking “why do they vote against their self interest” as if maintaining racism as an institution isn’t a self interest or these voters’ primary electoral motivation.

If you don’t believe what I’m saying, just take a look at Alabama. Damn near 50th in the nation on every socioeconomic indicator, but not even that or pedophilia was enough to stop White Alabamans from reflexively voting GOP. Opposing their Black peers is priority number 1.
They were intent on sending Roy Moore to DC to rubber stamp every single piece of austerity bullshit the GOP concocts, no matter how godawful the consequences would be for them personally.
None of this is rational or wise, yet American culture persists in exalting the political ideology and voting habits of White voters who routinely make disastrous decisions every election. We glorify shit that should be shunned, then feign shock when it blows up in our faces.
As such, every election season must necessarily be kicked off in the Whitest American localities (IA, NH) and the slate of pertinent issues is always gleaned from whichever propaganda was most effective on the predominantly White cable news audience.
Case in point, this wanton bullshit. Nevermind that she won the *popular* vote by ~3 million and has been the most admired woman worldwide more than once, she’s “so unpopular” because she didn’t win the White American majority.
94% of Black women didn’t think Hillary was unpopular or that she would’ve been worse than the trash currently occupying the WH, but that doesn’t fit the preferred narrative in White American culture, so 🤐.
It was White American culture that chose to prioritize emails, paid speeches, Benghazi concern trolling and pneumonia above treason, sociopathy, sexual predation and sheer incompetence.
It is White American culture labeling this #GOPTaxScam a victory for Trump/the GOP despite knowing full well the scale of White poverty and the reality that austerity will do nothing but exacerbate the “economic anxiety” they sensationalized for 2 years straight.

Bottom line is White American culture is extremely adept at convincing itself to jump off a cliff, and this is why the GOP wins elections, with or without Russia’s assistance. Nothing will change until we acknowledge this reality.
