I have a fear, a fear that our balance of power is horribly unbalanced.

A fear that we may need to do something drastic to have our representatives hear us.

To let the leadership in congress know that we are dead serious and we mean business.

I sit at my job and think, how can these people ignore the horrific things that are happening in our country? How can they sit idly by and think nothing is wrong?

How can they ignore the mockery Donald is making of the most respected position in the world?
Each day he is in the White House I surge through the following emotions

Anger
Disgust
Fear
Heartache

Each day, they either repeat, change positions or both. Anyway you look at it, I feel each of these Every. Single. Day.
I know many have made statements similar to this, but I used to wonder how the Nazis ever were able to take power.

Why didn't the people rebel?
Why didn't they stand up for what is right and decent?

The more this insanity goes on every day, the more I understand ...
... you become inured to the onslaught. The constant attack of ridiculous statements, the excuses, the fake outrage, the greed. It all seems to blend into one another.

That is what they are hoping.

Donald and the GOP leadership are hoping that we are going to give up, to just throw in the towel. Not care anymore, let them have what they want & think "As long as they leave me & my family alone. I don't care."

I cannot do that, I can't ignore the people that they are hurting
The damage they are doing to our environment, our image as the greatest nation in the world, slowly picking away at our democracy.

I refuse to ignore it, I will not let myself fall into complacency.
Today I remembered an encounter that I and my husband had in Las Vegas many years ago.

We were walking the strip & in the sea of people we started walking next to an elderly gentleman. We could tell he was having a hard time keeping up with his family, so we hung back.
We walked and talked for a few minutes and that is when I noticed the numbers tattooed on his arm.

My husband asked about them as we walked. The man answered his question of their origin with "I got those when I was 13 in Prison". We both exchanged a glance & focused back on ..
... the man speaking. I asked "Prison?" He said "Yes, it was like a prison for me, but it was many, many years ago". I then asked "Were those from Nazi Germany?"

He immediately answered "yes".

My husband asked him "Do you hate the Nazis?"

He Said "No"
...
I said "How could you not hate the people who took so many lives?"

He said "I lost my entire family at Auschwitz. Everyone I had ever known, but I refuse to hate. If I hate then I become the same as them. The key to fighting hate is love."

His daughter then came ....
... and exclaimed "Oh, there you are dad! I see you have made new friends again!" She turned & said to us "Thank you so much for keeping him safe."

He waved goodbye to us & he and his daughter were lost in the sea of people.

My husband & I literally stopped in our tracks.
That man's words, his advice has stuck with me all these years. I never thought I would need them or reflect on them.

After yesterday's hateful statement from Donald, I remembered them.

I will not hate him. Not him, nor the GOP leadership that fills their pockets ...
... at the expense of the entire nation. I will not let a racist man have me hate him. I will channel that hate and put it to good use. Turn it into something positive. Use that negative energy and turn it into good.

I will not hate, I won't give them the satisfaction.
