1. Let's go over some basics about the OPR, and exactly how high their standards for recommending employment termination are, shall we? First we learn that it appears the transgressions McCabe was fired for occurred outside of the scope of the OPR.
2. The OPR official website goes OUT OF THEIR WAY to let us know that action is RARELY taken after an investigation. It is nearly comical how blatant they are in saying "hey, this never usually results in anything... Don't bother". So, think about the STANDARD McCabe reached.
3. They close off that section with this:
4. Now lets look into the processs. It isn't "quick" like McCabe's attorney would have us believe. This isn't something that can be rushed along. The employee can also ONLY have an attorney they have already retained as counsel.
5. Here is a MAJOR one- "The majority of OPR investications are administrative in nature, and employees are not entitled to counsel AS A MATTER OF LAW" (emphasis added). This makes me think he was either given an exception, or he is under criminal investigation..
6. And now, take a look at the professional misconduct standards. (Note the difference between "mistake" finding and "poor judgement" finding. It is NOT EASY TO BE FIRED. Not by a long shot)
7. Don't let the media convince you this was some sort of easy process that was done quickly under the dark of night. This is a BIG deal that takes a TON of evidence... and possibly? CRIMINALITY.
