I have used ESPN3 for streaming rugby. What ESPN has done is taken away (it seems) *all* rugby content. In some cases they've done this somewhat gradually, like cutting out almost all @ChampionsCup @ERChallengeCup to where only a few games were streamed each round. (1/x)
The @top14rugby was dropped completely. They kept @SuperRugby coverage, where all games each round have been streamed. Now I've found that after taking away all rugby coverage from ESPN3, I can now get "additive" and "complementary" coverage of just some of that lost... (2/x)
... coverage for an additional $5 a month on top of the $ I already pay them in a cable TV pkg. Frankly, I find this pretty shitty. Maybe I'm wrong and someone will adequately explain how this is actually a great thing. But for this to make sense to me, you'd have to... (3/x)
... somehow make the standard ESPN cable TV pkg part cheaper, and my cable TV bill should go down. Then maybe I might now feel so cheated with having to pay more each month for something that was included in standard pkg before. I was expecting ESPN+ to be where the... (4/x)
... they still had the current streaming content available (three @ChampionsCup @ERChallengeCup games each round, for instance) then you could opt to get the expanded coverage of the other games in each round. I wasn't expecting to lose all coverage. As it is, with... (5/x)
already paying for cable, I'm not inclined to pay even more $ when I don't really feel I'm getting "additive" content, even if it is just a few $ per month. I frankly feel like I'd be paying even more $ to actually get less content. As I said before, maybe this is.... (6/x)
... really a great thing and I'm mistaken. But count me out, @ESPN_FanCentral. #rugby #DisappointedUSARugbyFan (7/x)
Also, should add that with the troubles ESPN has had with losing customers and revenue (if news is correct), I think they're doing this to bring in more revenue and as necessary change to a system that wasn't sustainable. But another shitty aspect of adding ESPN+ is that.. (8/x)
... that's not what they're saying. They're touting this as expanded coverage, and I don't feel it really is. That's another big reason I seriously dislike this move they've made. (9/9)
