Ah, #Skolkovo -- that tech-transfer Shangri-La for the Kremlin/Obama/Clinton/Clinton Foundation "Russian reset" crowd, before the party line changed to "Russian collusion ---> Trump."
What could go wrong? A EUCOM report in 2013 called #Skolkovo "a vehicle for worldwide technology transfer to Russia in the areas of information technology, biomedicine, energy, satellite and space technology, and nuclear technology." Or, as techcrunch.com put it:
I was reminded of #Skolkovo today on reading about Putin's brand new Poseidon-drone, said to create tsunamis on detonating its two-megaton nukes. Sounds like a "great leap forward," all right.
While O/Hill urged Cisco, Intel, Google, etc, to join #Skolkovo, the US Army report cautioned: "U.S. policymakers must weigh the benefits of technological engagement with Russia against the risks of scientific knowledge transfer, especially for the modernization of its military."
Did any U.S. policymakers "weigh the benefits" of tech transfer to Russia (what benefits?) via #Skolkovo against the risks of "the modernization of its military"? Crickets. Does Amb @McFaul's new book even mention these risks?
US Army report further stated: "Although military activities are not an official cluster of activity, the #Skolkovo Foundation has, in fact, been involved in defense-related activities since December 2011, when it approved the first weapons-related project..."
That first weapons-related project at #Skolkovo was the development of a hypersonic cruise missile engine.
Five years later, it done been developed.
thehill.com/policy/defense…
But "Russian collusion ---> Trump." #Skolkovo #AmericanBetrayal
Look on the bright side: #Skolkovo eliminates need for messy spying!
US Army report: "Skolkovo is arguably an overt alternative to clandestine industrial espionage—with the additional distinction that it can achieve such a transfer on a much larger scale and more efficiently."
The US Army #Skolkovo report: "Why bother spying on foreign companies and government laboratories if they will voluntarily hand over all the expertise Russia seeks?"
Translation: HAVE WE LOST OUR MINDS?
No, only control of our government. #AmericanBetrayal
Note of #MAGA interest: "Since multinational institutions hire talent worldwide and seek access to foreign markets *without regard for national interest,* only the US gov wd be in a position to persuade them to scale back their commitments ..." -- only if US gov is America 1st.
