I had to text Michelle this just now because someone I thought I was close to and their friend called this a scam. They messaged people who commented or shared my posts. I was shocked and couldn’t understand. I sent irrefutable proof and got an apology but the damage was done. The original posts had numerous screenshots of the documents sent to me by the victim. Their main evidence was that it’s my cash tag. I thought this was obvious but I’ll explain why that is.
1. I have kept the victims identity private for safety purposes. I only used middle name.

I need to sleep. I am representing Michelle in eviction court at 8:30 AM. I just met her and I am so glad I did. We need to raise $730 by 8:30 to secure options to avoid homelessness. We’re hoping to wake up to a miracle. She wanted me to share this message to you all. (Thread) She’s right that we need a miracle. If we don’t wake up to just $730 more tomorrow then her path to remain housed shrinks a lot. Right now I’m getting my hope from her.

However, we have to even get to 2k first. If we don’t, I don’t see a reason why the landlord won’t just take it to trial and enforce an eviction judgment. If they won’t play ball my plan is to work with landlords lawyer to set a trial date rather than have the court set it. Anyways, I said I would update you all and that’s where we are at. At a minimum we need 1,000 more dollars by Monday at 8:30 AM. If by miracle we get to 12k we might be able to settle with landlord and get her housed.

Update: We’re at ~$1,000 to keep this survivor housed. While I’ve been saddened by the slow response on donations I am so pleased with all the support people have offered. From advocates willing to fight, lawyers willing to represent, and providers willing to connect to services. Through discussion with great lawyers it seems it doesn’t make sense to have a strong community showing at a first court appearance but if it goes to trial then it might. The current goal is to negotiate with landlord to pay everything, avoid eviction, but promise to move ASAP.

We need to raise 12k by the 1/9 to keep this pregnant survivor that escaped trafficking from being evicted. I was sure the story would be enough to spur the community into action. But in the first night we have raised just $125. So she has asked me to release the photos tomorrow. By photos I mean the aftermath of one instance of physical assault that led to her calling the police. Her landlord then gave her a warning for eviction due to police presence. Even after knowing why cops were there, said if they came again she would be evicted. They did.

A pregnant survivor of sex trafficking and domestic/sexual violence needs our help. This is one of the most heartbreaking injustices I have asked for community help on. Michelle is being evicted for police activity at her apartment after her abuser/stalker appeared 3 times. ImageImageImage I chose not to post the gruesome pictures of her injuries but seeing them ensured I would do everything I could to stop this eviction. She became pregnant, lost her mom to covid, and was badly beaten after her escape all within the past year and is now being evicted for it all.

I’ve learned so much from my work with journalists mostly as a source that I think I have a simple quick fix to some of the issues around reporting on police violence:

- The crime reporter should never also report on policing policy, police shooting people, or police unions. The crime beat is 90% basic stuff where you can reprint what they say and your #1 source had to be the police. You cannot lose your relationship with your best and often only source and thus reporters (who are good) are put in this horrible position of ruining their source.

Wtf is a protest clout chaser and how white do you have to be to think any amount of Twitter followers is worth the death threats, cyber bullying, home attacks, police abuse, etc?

Clout must be worth billions if anyone is out here chasing protest likes for all the consequences. Y’all think this shit is fun? You think I got rich off some likes? You think I got a few cool pictures without endless thankless work? Fuck off.

I can’t protest anymore. The police won. And that defeat hurts so much, I feel like I failed. I went from the fearless kid at the front with a megaphone to the thought of a flash bang keeping me up. All that time in jail, batons, watching my friends bleed, the chaos and screams. Protesting, leading, being vocal - especially while Black in Portland is a thankless job. You have people accusing you of profiting, building a career, or even worse. As if this route was a good route for any of this. I coulda left law school and became a rich attorney. I didn’t.

Thread: FYI, with all the federal deputizations and fed activity in Portland you really should request your own FBI file. It’s very easy. It’s said 1/3 Americans have a file. Just fill out this form: fbi.gov/file-repositor… Then send an email requesting “any and all records, documents, or communications prepared or maintained by the FBI pertaining to myself or my activities.” Make sure to include all your contact information. There may be a $20 fee, indicate in your email if you can pay that.

Cops just banged on my door. Kat opened and they separated us, we had been home for roughly 15 min.

We got home with me, Kat Stoke, Journey, Dog, Food. I walk in to put food and dog inside so each of us can grab a kid. But all of the sinks are running in our house. I ran outside and yelled at Kat “get back in the car” she said “what?” I said “Get the kids get back in the car and look up the cameras, now. Don’t ask questions.”

Then I went to my car, popped my trunk for some tools and swept my house.

There is a lot of discussions nationally and locally about the tactics and strategy of Portland protesters. As someone who has led protests in the streets of Portland and also attended many in this current movement, I have some thoughts I want to share. (thread) 1. Vandalism and violence are different things. This should go without saying but the vast majority of Portlanders and protesters, including myself, do not engage in any political violence or vandalism even at the events that end in destruction.

I have no idea who the foo fighters are. I’m sorry if this offended you but I’m dead serious. Idk if it’s a band or a person. I don’t know anything. How would I? Where does one learn all this? I asked my groomsmen they don’t know either.

So @tedwheeler is now on a personal crusade against an indigenous activist in our community @cozca503. This must be stopped. He stated through his enormous platform, “I would love to see that individual prosecuted as a repeat offender.”

He is the police commissioner. To be clear, @cozca503 is a gem for our community. Passionate? Yes. Also, shows up. And showing up to protests under @tedwheeler’s reign means getting arrested. Now, because his pandemic dates are being interrupted by people he has gassed, he wants us all to pay.

Some public accountability over an argument that probably doesn’t matter but should exist publicly. To understand this feud you need to know a few things. This is my memory which isn’t perfect but is the context of what happened with me and @pinwheelempire (thread) 1. I was blocked by @pinwheelempire around 3 years ago. Something that actually really hurt as a life long Blazers fan. I thought it was because I tweeted stupid stuff about Stotts as a passionate fan during that playoffs that I don’t currently believe.

We went to the beach for the weekend and when I was checking in the hotel we couldn’t find the room so we parked in the parking lot and a man was dragging and unconscious woman out of his car. When we pulled up he pushed her back in, ran to driver seat and closed doors. I had no idea what to do because I don’t call the cops and also I didn’t know if she was in dire need so maybe was no time. Also my kids were in my car. So I go find out room and get my wife and kids in there. Then I knocked on his window and he wouldn’t answer.

The first time I ever worked with @MacSmiff in 2015~ the mayor invited us to come negotiate. We said there is nothing to negotiate but Teressa told us to go take the meeting. When we got out Mac turned to me and said “I didn’t know you well before this, but now... you my nigga.” And I was low key so damn proud cuz I looked up to him hard. Then in 2019 we were in the VIP section at the @wynne concert and Mac introduced me to his wife and said “ya that’s Greg you know the famous one.” And I was tripping out cuz in my mind he was an icon lol.

I’m going to need the white left to take several seats on claiming victory over Donald Trump.

1. White youth still voted for Trump in way too high numbers
2. Black people especially Black women saved you
3. Black people, for many reasons, are not as progressive as you ascribe Basically, there is a lot more organizing to do and you can’t just say listen to Black people and then be very mad Biden was the nominee (in large part because of Black people) and then take credit for defeating Trump.

Anyone else watching The Queen’s Gambit? Love this. Had time for the first time in 1.5 years to just watch shit. Amazing feeling. I also watched The Death of Stalin which was hilarious and the Snowden movie.

If Biden wins Georgia it will be of course because of Black voters, Black women in particular. But also in large part to Stacey Abrams, the movement she started as a candidate, and the voting reform movement she championed after. Also, the day the election is called should hence forth be declared “thank a Black person day” because once again we had to save white America from itself.

This was done to a Black supporter of @sarah2020 today. Just unacceptable. If you want to do a protest vote that's fine but stop stealing from our BIPOC supporters, donors, volunteers, and staff. Also, it is ironic becuase Sarah's platform called for defunding before it was a buzz word and was the only one in the primary to do so.
