We tracked down 68 of the most egregious viral videos of police violence during the recent Black Lives Matter protests. We wanted to find out whether the cops involved received any disciplinary action.

So we collected them into a database 👇🏽

projects.propublica.org/protest-police… My colleagues @zipporahosei and @mrsimon22 reached out to 40 law enforcement agencies about these 68 incidents of police violence and tried to find out whether they have been investigated and if any criminal charges were filed against the officers involved.

The U.S. has been spending billions to fight the coronavirus.

Until now it was hidden in hard-to-use gov’t websites. So @derekwillis and I organized everything the U.S. bought, (including live monkeys) and who it’s buying from.

And we made it searchable

Hi all,

I was part of the research and data team that was laid off yesterday at The Intercept.

Here’s a thread on what the management said on why they are laying us off, the crucial work our team did and the future we need to build together.

✊🏽 So... in my 2 years and 10 months at The Intercept it was clear that at the highest level we lacked a clear understanding of why we should do investigative data projects, and what it really takes to build them.

The team that was let go yesterday has some battle scars to prove it
