This story about Mark Menzies MP is like something out of a Tom Sharpe novel.

It's incredible. 1/2

This photo is fake.

The sign on the right does not exist and Sadiq Khan is on record as saying he won't be introducing the scheme.

Susan Hall's team seems to be sharing misinformation.

Pass it on In the meantime that tweet of Hall's needs some serious Community Noting and calling out

● Life expectancy is 50
● Women can't vote and neither can 40% of men
● Poverty is rife
● Thousands die unnecessarily in absence of vaccines and universal healthcare
● No old age pension
● And those boys - just 13 years later - would have been sent to the Western Front I mean I could go on. But you get the point. That account and the others like it have an agenda.

Francis Drake was a slave trader and a pirate.

He burned churches, tortured prisoners & executed a member of his own crew on spurious grounds. He orchestrated the massacre on Rathlin Island that saw children and women butchered.

Address history over nationalist fantasy. Drake's reputation is built on posthumous myth making and the Victorians latching onto him as a "swashbuckling, sea faring hero". He was a braggart and a violent slave trader who slaughtered people of these islands too in the most appalling circumstances.

An account of Rathlin Image

This is genuinely the most preposterous story I've ever heard. Susan Hall has zero evidence to support her theory that she was pickpocket. In all likelihood she's dropped her oyster wallet on a seat.... and then a very kind person has gone out of their way to reunite her with it London is not some crime ridden hell hole. I've lived in this city my entire adult life and it is safer and better now than it has ever been. Sure it has its problems and pickpockets and street crime are a thing... but Hall comes across as someone who hates and fears this city

John F. Kennedy was assassinated this day, 1963. In the decades that have followed there have been theories and counter theories – tales of magic bullets & men on grassy knolls – but in fact his death was significantly aided by a corset-like brace he was wearing that day - thread Image One of the great USPs of JFK when he became the youngest elected president (Theodore Roosevelt at 42 had been younger) in US history, in 1961, was his perceived athleticism, vitality and youthful appeal. But beneath those handsome good looks and toothy smiles he was a mess. Image

Shocking allegations against Peter Bone MP upheld and he now faces a six week suspension.

Read the complaints and then ask yourself if you can think of any other walk of life where an employer would get off so easily. Bones actions had a "profoundly painful impact upon (his employee), causing serious harm and affecting his health and wellbeing."

Someone who dreamed of a life of working in politics has had their dream shattered by a "serious abuse of power".

Imagine tweeting this from a private jet in a cost of living crisis when you've literally just cancelled the high-speed train line to the city you've been in. What sort of monstrous lack of awareness is going on? And then the guy... or more likely his lack tweets this underneath. Do they just think we're all fucking dumb? Do they really believe we're going to buy this?

Calvin Robinson first came to attention when he fronted the "I choose to teach" campaign back in 2014. 1/3 Image From there it was a hop and a skip to this incredible lack of awareness... and within a few years he was popping up everywhere denouncing lefty teachers and defending cancelled students... while trying to become a councillor and later a vicar

Juicy.

Calvin Robinson is making a "principled stand" over removal of Dan Wootton.

Thus forgetting the first rule of the circus. The clown can always be replaced.

ULEZ begins tomorrow.
A day when millions of Londoners in outer London finally realise that they're not affected, that the sky has not fallen in on their heads, that all that scare-mongering was.. just that and that their little corner of the world may just be better for it. It's a day too for the right wing anti cleaner air people to move onto a new grift - so good luck with that. Must be like starting a new term at primary.

Hilarious. GB News sends hapless Ben Leo to Greenpeace HQ to own the wokes and gives them some brilliant on air publicity by mistake He keeps making the "why don't you do this in China" point like it's a trump card. Sort of thing that probably goes down a storm in his twitter

Today marks 83rd anniversary of a ship called HMT Dunera, setting sail from Liverpool. Its crew and passengers numbered some 2,600 boys and men (aged 14-60) - and were mostly German and Austrian refugees. The ship had a capacity for 1,600 and was dangerously over capacity 1/6 Widespread fear in Britain in 1940 about fifth columnists had led to thousands of refugees being classed as "enemy aliens" but in fact the majority of those men on board roughly 2/3rds were German and Austrian Jews who had fled the Nazis. Some had been in concentration camps 2/6

Boris Johnson is the ultimate fake hero. A legend built on hot air, connections, and powerful backers. In his long chaotic, career, this self-serving wrecker has not delivered one worthwhile or memorable thing. History is full of charlatans like that

linktr.ee/OttoEnglish Actually I take that back. He has achieved two things. He's demonstrated the rot that is our honours system and shown that a complete lack of talent doesn't matter as much as privilege and powerful friends. Both can take you right to the top.

Next level conspiracy stuff and retweeted by @TiceRichard - if you don't like this shop in Greenwich then don't use it. There's quite literally a Sainsbury's local of roughly the same size right next door. Look. It's about 30 seconds away Image

In the absence of a US-UK trade deal Rishi Sunak has had the green light to announce the "Atlantic Declaration" a completely meaningless bit of bullshit .... I've seen more substance in an invisible water sandwich Image

This dreadful AI image of Abbey Road has reminded me of my favourite Abbey Road story... no, not the hoary old conspiracy theory about the cover (which incidentally features in my current book) but the "guy in the background" - whose name was Paul Cole Image Cole was an American  - on holiday with his wife and sick of visiting art galleries and museums. So instead, in August 1969, was wandering down Abbey Road when he spotted a group of policemen and started engaging them in conversation.

The Beatles - and George Harrison in particular actually had significant visa problems in Hamburg as any fan knows. But more to the point - how the fuck do you misspell "Beatles" Image Harrison was actually deported from Germany in 1960 - and the band were deprived of their star guitarist.
