I know people wanted a blowout that didn't happen, but all the work I've been doing has been centered around the expectation that Biden will win, but we won't know it right away. Despairing doesn't help. We just need to hold steady and make sure the votes are counted. We have unprecedented numbers of mail-in ballots, we have states like PA and WI that don't even start counting those til day-of. And yes, Trump will declare himself winner, king, emperor, whatever, we've all known that too. That doesn't make it so.

Let's talk about greed. While blocking a bill for fair elections, fighting against a bill to help 9/11 first responders, and trying to take away food benefits from over 3 million Americans, who was the GOP working to help? Rich people, especially those with old familial wealth These Republicans want to stop capital gains taxes from rising with inflation. Capital gains are money made from the sale of investments or real estate. Most working Americans earn money from income (aka THEY WORK FOR IT), the rich get more of their money from capital gains...

It has always seemed that if you want to go into politics you should get a law degree but I have always thought that the best experience for politics is working as a server or bartender. 1. It matters that you find a way to get along with two groups, the customers and the back of house, but ultimately your obligation is to the public
2. You're going to have to tell people things they don't want to hear sometimes, so you need to be prepared with other solutions

sometimes I lack the strength to be appropriately snide and dismissive and make the smart-girl joke about shit like this. sometimes it just feels like yeah guess that's the world, that's what society told me, that's probably what they all think, that's probably what they all feel The internalized self-hatred I grew up with, the feeling that women stop mattering once there are no more men who want to fuck them, is tough to shake, though I've worked hard to rid myself of it, though I'm a million times better, stronger than I used to be.

Why, I would be happy to explain how the GOP tax bill did not, in fact, "benefit everyone," and did take from the American people! Thank you so much for asking! To the thread-mobile! To start, the tax bill DISPROPORTIONATELY, OVERWHELMINGLY benefitted the super-wealthiest--83% of the tax cuts went to the 1%. The top .1% (POINT 1%) received an average cut of $148,260. This is a bill that was sold as predominately helping the middle class, what did you get?

It's not yet 9:30am and I've seen 5 different things that made me put my head down on the table and quietly cry for a minute before continuing. The despair and hopelessness- a lot of us are feeling it. So we want to fight back, and what fight is stronger than our vote? Yes! But The majority of us who are here on Twitter making political jokes, following the news, signing petitions, calling Congress -- we're engaged. Most of us are going to vote. We know to vote. So the calls of "please vote" on Twitter sometimes feel desperate but wasted. But still,

I want to tell a story: Once in high school, I felt insecure, I put on a tight top too low cut and dark lipstick I didn't usually wear. I went to a party drank terrible wine coolers, too many of them. A man asked me if I wanted to leave, I slurred, said maybe. He said "maybe"? And then he said "maybe isn't yes" and I went home that night, un-assaulted, because I hadn't talked to a rapist at that party.

true and why I won't shut up about it There are so many issues facing us, it can become overwhelming. I do what I can where I can when I can, but the issue that I devote most of my effort to is fighting this disastrous GOP tax scam and fighting for a fair economy and, bear with me, I want to tell you why --
