If the rural areas (and more importantly the rural state governments) play this right they will have significantly better outcomes. Initially, morbidity and mortality outcomes will be better, and if that’s the case, the economic impacts won’t be as devastating.

Thread. 1/ Rural areas have the benefit of lower population densities in which the spread will be slower. Additionally, the spread is mostly concentrated on the coasts and moving inward. The Midwest needs to hold out until the densely populated regions have things somewhat under control. 2/

Massive sigh. A thread.

1/ I use Reddit quite a bit, but not for anything political. That being said, I was well aware of “The_Donald” because it was a place of constant criticism, as was warranted. 2/ What you have to understand about Reddit is that it is successfully set up as nothing but an echo chamber. You subscribe to a Subreddit, and things that are posted in that subreddit show up on your home TL.

Also, it’s all anonymous, and it’s user base is overwhelmingly left.

This news genuinely scares me. Those praising it and staying silent have not at all thought about the precedence these types of decisions set. I don’t agree that these people are good. I think they are provocateurs who have more or less mastered the art in the digital age and I despise their successes, for the most part.

(1/13) This is incredibly interesting. Removing the “like” option is better for many individuals who fall victim to the strong desire to be accepted and thus the mental health issues that can follow. However, that desire is what drives the usage of Twitter. It’s a Catch 22 for the platform as business. It is also my assumption that many of those who would be upset at this change are those who push hard for more ethical business practices, the category which this decision would fall under. Catch 22 for those users...
