For younger people, here’s a weird thing you probably didn’t know about unless you’re at least an elder millennial, because it sounds insane.
Chickenpox Parties.
Growing up, when one of our friends got chickenpox, parents would throw a party with tons of kids. To get us sick.
You see, chickenpox, now more commonly called varicella, is a very uncomfortable sickness, and basically the older you are when you get it, the worse it is. For adults, it’s absolute hell.

Debating conspiracy nuts will never ever be a winning proposition because the only thing they need to make assertions is a couple of seconds of time. It can take you mountains of evidence to refute a single point and their response will always be “nuh uh” and no minds change.
“None of your assertions are valid because literally all of them fall apart once you apply the scientific method” doesn’t work because the kinds of guys who listen to debate podcasts have no clue what the scientific method is or how it really works.

Okay, so, algae is WAAAAY better than trees at converting carbon into breathable, clean air. This is a thing we know, and this is a cool idea.
But what I want to see is gutters with fish and aquaponic vegetables cultivated alongside every city sidewalk, every city street.
For those curious, Japan's streets often have very simple gutter systems full of algae, and in some areas they're even full of koi fish, algae, and whole little ecosystems. Perfect for aquaponics. On high-traffic streets, they're covered with modular concrete blocks.

Okay I took a fuckton of CBD/THC because I'm having a 9/10 pain day so excuse me if I don't make any sense. But I KNOW my back would feel better if I fully sit back in my office chair. But I can't. If I'm not focused, I will subconsciously slouch forward. Any advice/experience?
Also crossing my legs. I know I shouldn't. I try not to. But every time I look down, bam, it's there. I guess I've got to find a way to shibari the hell out of them or something.

I've seen some gross misunderstanding about the way fascist ops sow dissent in real life activist and online social justice spaces. Most "influencers" aren't "feds." That's not how these things spread.
Brief thread.
You can read all this stuff online, but the FBI and CIA both have widely shared tactics for dissolving movements for social and economic justice. Note that most of these tactics do NOT rely on hiring influential community members. That's risky without legal leverage.

I exist in a creative space where people want Brands, not artists, and that frustrates me. They want Star Wars, Warhammer, Lord of the Rings-things with ® after their names. They can change hands and a nameless mass of people work on them. Because the people don’t matter.
They buy Star Wars because it’s Star Wars. This discourages creators from telling their own stories; the REAL jobs are the ones where you’re filling in the panels on the Death Star. Nobody cares about your soul or your truth so long as there’s polished spectacle.

The AI art discourse is really interesting to me mostly in how it's fractured. On Twitter, it seems the consensus that AI art is unmitigated evil. Elsewhere, I'm seeing a lot of professional artists and graphic designers using it as an iteration tool or toy.
One of the problems I find with Twitter is that a lot of "discourse" ends up being "finding consensus." Which is always dominated by the loudest people. Then whatever that consensus is becomes INALIENABLE LAW PUNISHABLE BY SOCIAL MEDIA DEATH. When most of the world has no idea.

Watching V/H/S/99. It’s neat but I keep getting stuck on little anachronisms like the digital production quality on the garage music. You know, stuff nobody gives a shit about.
Okay the first two shorts are fairly good. I had my gripes but I think they pulled off some real fun tricks. The third is an AMAZINGLY subversive film I am in love with but it doesn’t at all benefit from the found footage format.

Let me be clear about this. I don't want Republicans to win. You can say "all the people voting 'no' in this post are naive baby assholes" all you want, but, big but, IF YOU WANT DEMOCRATS TO WIN PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS. People have lines. You can't shame those lines away.
You can keep saying, "BUT YOU HAVE TO VOTE DEMOCRAT" all you fucking want but how well has that done for the world for the past 40 years? Is that a winning fucking strategy? No.
At this point you're insulting people for RESPECTING PICKET LINES. That's labor 101.
