Can we admit Obamacare was a disaster and Obama was a bad President yet? Or are we still pretending that Biden is the problem because he’s not cool? time.com/6279937/us-hea… If the Rs has an alternative beyond ‘feed sick people into a woodchipper’ they would have implemented it already.

1. A lot of people involved in the TikTok debate are saying 'hey but we aren't regulating our own social media firms so going after TikTok is cray cray.' But there is actually a lot Biden is doing to regulate social media and data you just don't know about. So let's take a look. Image 2. First, the Federal Trade Commission has banned Meta from tracking kids and using surveillance advertising to kids, and Meta is in litigation which it is slowly losing.

Here's WH Press Secretary reading out talking points denying the 20% cut to the Antitrust Division budget. It would be nice if more than 5 people in the administration knew anything about the administration's policies. It’s also nonsense. DOJ number #2 and ex-Apple lawyer Lisa Monaco’s absurd slush fund got a boost of $2 million from six months ago, the Antitrust Division got gutted.

Not to get all Will Stancil, but it is weird how little anyone on Twitter wants to give credit to Biden for doing good stuff. Like he cuts overdraft fees and the response is 'More half measures! Yay. I wonder how watered down this will get if it even happens.' It did happen! I mean @joebiden and @PeteButtigieg preside over the smoothest travel season in a decade after massively punishing Southwest and there's zero interest, even from Buttigieg fans.

Media corruption is so obvious. Yesterday there was a historic antitrust win against Google’s monopoly. Does NY magazine cover it? Nope. They release a bad faith hit piece on Lina Khan and anti-monopolists. Image “fatal to a once-in-a-generation movement to dramatically transform government antitrust policy, for better or worse”

This is literally published 5am the day after Google lost a historic antitrust case.

This isn't actually wrong. DEI is what a civil rights movement looks like without unions. The ugly truth about racial politics is in the 1970s civil rights leaders gave up on the working class and turned to corporate compliance and 'justice via webinar.' Sociologist Frank Dobbin wrote up this dynamic in 'Inventing Equal Opportunity,' but he misses the corrupting reality of letting people dispute employer action around narrow identity grievance but under no other terms. press.princeton.edu/books/paperbac…

It’s weird to learn that all the time going to synagogue and praying and studying the Torah is irrelevant to Judaism and that what I should have been doing is blindly support Netanyahu. Good to know. I thought Judaism was an ethical, religious and cultural grouping, it’s nice to learn it means supporting Likud. So much less complicated than having to tell right from wrong and dealing with existential questions!

My unpopular take is that Matt Gaetz is very smart and motivated by policy aims. Matt Gaetz is probably the most aggressive R on antitrust and commercial surveillance, and he wants to end arbitration agreements. I've watched him in hearings and markups in my area, the guy knows what he's doing.

This is pretty much every discussion with a Democrat about why Obamacare was a bad law.

"I don't believe reality." The basic issue with Obamacare is that Obama tackled the *wrong problem.* He thought the problem is that not enough people have this weird financial product called health insurance.

The actual problem is everything costs too much because monopoly/fraud.

Greedflation alert! The Antitrust Division is suing over price-fixing of chicken, turkey, and pork products. 90% of the market is unlawfully inflated. justice.gov/opa/pr/justice… The conspiracy here to hike meat prices is remarkable. One Tyson executive explained, “we not only have to increase our price but we also have to out run our competitors[’] improvements.” justice.gov/d9/2023-09/agr…

1. There's a myth that the antitrust agencies are 'losing'. So I'm going to go over a bunch of the actual wins. First is Sportsman's Warehouse attempt to buy Great Outdoors in 2021. https://t.co/cvorsADn4freuters.com/markets/deals/…

Here's Republican House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan this morning on CNBC saying it's important to let big tech engage in acquisitions because "that's gonna help the country and help the consumer."

Ladies and gentlemen, the realignment! Ok I'll be live-tweeting the Judiciary Hearing where Jim Jordan is grilling the FTC's Lina Khan. Jordan starts by saying that the last 40 years of antitrust has been *excellent* and produced more wealth than ever created in human history

I'd guess this one's gonna get appealed. It became very obvious at trial that Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley is your standard boomer moron. Hard to imagine she didn't make significant legal errors. Re: Microsoft-Activision, when a Biden judge - whose son works at Microsoft - lets the biggest tech merger of all time go through, we have a serious problem with the judiciary. There was massive amounts of evidence that Microsoft's goal is monopolization.

Melissa Holyoak spent years at a legal shop funded by big tech. Basically Mitch McConnell just put up Amazon/Google/Facebook as the chief antitrust enforcer of the GOP. Here's the lobby shop where new GOP FTC Commissioner nominee Melissa Holyoak used to work. Looks like conservatives got played by Google and Mitch McConnell, as usual.

What a nightmare. Entrance to an illegitimate predatory elite is officially going to become how much performative victimhood one can persuasively portray. “Driving LGBTQ+ equality and greater acceptance in the workplace and society is a cornerstone of McKinsey’s work.”

Anyone see the problem here?

Ladies and gentlemen, the New York Times oped page! Nearly every piece on affirmative action from the NYT oped section is cringe, except this one, which is a superb discussion of the cynicism embedded in racial gamification and what it does to everyone, along with a genuine attempt to grapple with racism. nytimes.com/2023/06/29/opi…

A bunch of documents were released last night that devastated Microsoft's case for acquiring Activision. It's 100% crystal clear the goal is monopoly.

"The idea is to create a moat that nobody else can attack." - Microsoft exec Matt Booty files.cand.uscourts.gov/files/23-cv-02… There's an extremely powerful pro-Microsoft propaganda effort out there designed to kick up dust about this case. They want us to think it's just Sony vs Microsoft, and all about whether Call of Duty will be exclusive to XBox console. That is NOT the key argument.

"Elections, my dear sir, I look at with terror. Experiments of this kind of have been so often tried, and so universally found productive of Horrors, that there is great Reason to dread them." - John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, 1787 I can see why C. Wright Mills was into John Adams. Both of them were theoretical fans of self-government, but they hated the people.

As Senator J.D. Vance works to implement rail safety rules and address bank CEO bonuses, you won't find his erstwhile elite leftwing critics updating their priors. That's because a core part of elite leftism is rejecting the ability to do politics. In this long piece, scholar Gabe Winant calls Vance a "monstrous sociopath," but does not discuss much Senate policy. Shouldn't one analyze Senate policy choices that include work with, say, Sherrod Brown on corporate power? Image

It's been almost 2 years since the withdrawal from Afghanistan. At $300M a day in costs, that's about $220 billion in money we didn't have to spend.

Joe Biden's best decision so far was the withdrawal. It's not even close. Well it certainly would have been a leverage point for Russia if they had send the Taliban weaponry to shoot at American targets in Afghanistan.
