NEW: One of the worst Jan. 6 rioters, David Dempsey, hit with 20 years in federal prison by a Reagan-appointed federal judge who has spoken out about the “preposterous” and dangerous rhetoric some Republicans have used in an attempt to “rewrite history" on Jan. 6. Dempsey appeared to flash an “OK” sign as he was led out of court, several witnesses observed. Other rioters have yelled “Trump won!” as they were led out of court.

More to come:

DOJ inspector general's report on the Roger Stone sentencing recommendation (remember that?) is now out. It calls former interim U.S. Attorney Timothy Shea's leadership "ineffectual" and DOJ's handling of the Stone sentencing "highly unusual." Bill Barr refused to cooperate. "we found that Barr had articulated his position about the sentencing recommendation both before and shortly after the first sentencing memorandum was filed, and before the President’s tweets." oig.justice.gov/sites/default/…

"there really is no centralized role in this for Defense or the Federal government components. This sits squarely in MPD's realm. I'm trying to tamp this down with the Deputy like I have the last couple of protests but this one may be different..." Image From the latest batch of FBI emails on Jan. 6:

"It's her very first day in this position. He didn't tell her what the document was, or who wrote it, unfortunately and then went back to the 7th floor for more meetings..."

THREAD: Over two years ago, a Jan. 6 defendant told a court that he'd witnessed Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes (now serving an 18 year seditious conspiracy sentence) that he'd witnessed Rhodes try to contact Donald Trump during the Capitol attack. That Jan. 6 defendant, William Todd Wilson, admitted that he heard Rhodes “repeatedly implore" an unidentified party he was speaking with "to tell President Trump to call upon groups like the Oath Keepers to forcibly oppose a transfer of power." nbcnews.com/politics/justi…

The only man known to have participated in both the News Fight in Anchorman (2004) and the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol (2021) plans to plead guilty on July 8, per court docket. He doesn’t count for any “law enforcement officers who stormed the Capitol” stats, but he’s certainly played a cop a bunch! nbcnews.com/politics/justi…

Let’s take a look at the conduct of Jan. 6 defendants sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, shall we? Image First up there’s this guy.

Did he get 10 years for walking in the Capitol?

No, that was mostly the vicious assault, and the blatant (almost comical) lying on the stand didn’t help.

Lots of false claims about Jan. 6 grandmas on this site, so just pointing out that a J6 grandmom sentenced today got approval to take a trip to France for D-Day events right before her sentencing.

Kymberly Sylvester received probation, $500 in restitution, and no fine. On Zoom.

Back in 2020, after Donald Trump lost the presidential election, the official account of the Arizona Republican Party started getting a little... wild.

In late night tweets, they started asking followers if they were ready to die for Trump.
