i have thought a lot about which kinds of group interactions i like and which ones i don't

so far, i'm learning that i like group interactions that:

a) are with people i already know and have shared context with, feel safe around

b) have a clear purpose that is actively related to my goals and interests

c) are well-held with an explicit, intentional structure by a clear leadership figure i really prefer group events that start with check-ins, that acknowledge each person's mood and circumstance, that demonstrate they care about the people in the group as they are that day

well, it's high time I share something i've been keeping under wraps for the last six months or so!

i've been assembling a crew of people to collaborate with on the three areas of my life's work: Love, Curiosity, and Empowerment it's an informal working collective we're currently, playfully calling "Tasshin Inc."

our overall mission is doing fun service projects

you become an adult when you notice life has tradeoffs, when you deeply accept that as inescapable fact, and begin to intentionally choose which tradeoffs to make there is the childhood of ignorance of tradeoffs, the rebellious youth of pretending they don't exist, and the maturity of accepting them as fact

cannot begin to articulate how radical an act it is to believe in yourself faithfully, without fail, without faltering— not to never question or challenge yourself, but to give yourself and your dreams and your promise the dedication and loyalty they deserve, consistently, again and again,

courage is the basis of both healing and service, and also of joy and fulfillment and unimagined ecstasy—for what could be sweeter than daring to live our vow, in all its fullness and beauty? cultivate bravery. cultivate love. cultivate curiosity. cultivate empowerment.

Last spring, a friend contacted me to introduce me to North Burn. North was beginning a project to host extended silent meditation retreats for dedicated practitioners in a beautiful setting in the Pacific Northwest. Having had the opportunity to do extended retreat myself—and knowing how deeply transformative that opportunity had been for me—I was deeply inspired by North’s project. I also admired that North wanted to run these retreats on a generosity (dana) basis.

there's a good reason for a semi-unspoken social stigma against people taking out their phones when present with each other: it doesn't feel good!

but that's because people typically contract their awareness when using their phone if you are nearby someone with their awareness contracted, so they stop being aware of you and have all their attention focused on something else, that feels awful (albeit in a subtle way)
