John Minford, #SunTzu 9: 28 "Strong words, coupled with an aggressive advance, are a sign of impending retreat."
As I write, today is 26 September 2019, the Democrats are set to commence Impeachment formally with a vote. If they do, @realDonaldTrump will enter that short list of American Presidents ever to suffer the process. Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton preceded.
@realDonaldTrump Have you read the transcription of the Ukraine conversation? I have. And, I've discussed it with my Democrat friends. It amazes me how subjective it has all become. To them, he's just a crook, a liar, a cheater and a scumbag. To me, he's a hero. There you have the divide.

John Minford, #SunTzu 9: 26 "Dust in drifting pockets is a sign of an army encamping."
Our wonderful commentators explain, before an army encamps, it sends out light horse to scout out the location. Dust drifting up in drifting pockets is the sign that indicates this activity. Light horse - unarmored - can move quickly, lightly, across the land.
We can see precisely such pockets today in the Democrat's build up for the 2020 election. Here are their drifting pockets of dust. Climate change, and the Green New Deal, which clearly states that Capitalism Is Killing The Planet. Note that. Capitalism is the bad guy.

John Minford, #SunTzu 9: 12 "Use the lie of the land to the troops' benefit."
Do you remember yesterday's list: mound, hill, bank or dike? And that of course you want to occupy the high ground? I wonder. Did Neanderthal man know that? Could it be that maybe they'd fight anywhere, but that Homo Sapiens figured out where to fight, to use the lie of the land?
Consider mounds for example. Did you know that they're among the oldest man-built formations still in existence? Long before there existed anything like a castle as we think of them, fortified mounds were built simply for their tactical advantage.

John Minford, #SunTzu 9: 8 "Observations of these four types of positions enabled the Yellow Emperor to defeat the Four Emperors.
Who but the Chinese could do this? The Yellow Emperor is destined to become Lord of All Under Heaven. Who are his enemies? South is the Red Emperor. East is the Green Emperor. West is the White. North is Black. Don't work too hard, just play with it.
Yellow Emperor defeats Red, Green, White, and Black Emperors. Can you feel the presence and power of myth here? Have we discussed the cardinal directions; the compass rose? Do you remember the Four Winds? The Four Corners of the earth?

John Minford, #SunTzu 9: 1 "In taking up position, and confronting the enemy:"

1) Cross Mountains
2) Cross Rivers
3) Cross Salt Marshes
4) Occupy Level Ground
Battle commences. I mentioned before that I found 16 verses previously missed. So, you'll see at the end of today's commentary that we'll have 229 verses completed, 209 to go. We're just past halfway on Master Sun's verse count. What's more, chapter 8 was incredible.
It's almost as if Master Sun is saying, alright, you have the theory, so now it's time to go get dirty. You need experience and the longer you wait before you get it, the more difficult it will be. Go DO SOMETHING! Go on. Shoe, shoe, shoe. Away with you now.

John Minford, #SunTzu 8: 30 " They demand the most careful consideration."

They? The Five Perils:

1) Recklessness
2) Cowardice
3) Hot Temper
4) Delicacy of Honor
5) Over-concern For His Men
We discussed how to employ each of these measures to unpack the hidden lessons from any failure, yesterday. Today, we're told in addition, that these measures DEMAND the most careful consideration. I can absolutely assure you in months and years to come, I will comply.
Yet now I'm about to brag terribly, Master Sun has always had a smile for me ever since I first started studying him, no matter how poorly I did, for the following reason. I have been practicing and teaching failure analysis ever since the early 1990s. Many consider me an expert.

1) It appears that @GenFlynn may be attending a conference about Digital Warriors, and one in which the topic of Q will be discussed. I think there's still a bit of uncertainty, but something I believe we may think we know, is that he wants to go. If so, that matters.
@GenFlynn 2) Having been so long a publicly stated Non-supporter of Q, all my hashtag work - and especially in the #PardonFlynnNow movement - has avoided the topic as if it were the plague. All my Q-supporting friends have tolerated this in me, and laughed at me for it.
@GenFlynn 3) On the other hand, many stated clearly that the two movements must be clearly separate, and that any conflation would be wrong. I've thanked them for this, and that's been my rule...until now. At this point it is impossible to maintain the wall for the reason above, and more.

John Minford, #SunTzu 8:17 "By tempering thoughts of harm, he can extricate himself from calamity."
If you agree, say it with loud and strong, I do NOT believe in manmade global warning, and I am NOT one of the 97% of scientists the left tells us all agree about it. There may be global warning, but if so, it's certainly NOT the first time. Hell, it may even be manmade.
But we don't know that. Sure, they say we do, but I don't believe them. Do you? What's more, the same thing that's destroying any credibility of the news, is occurring right here, propaganda. When I used to argue about this with my left leaning friends, I had a great case.

1) Why is it that when you take down a castle's flag, you've taken over the entire castle? Jocko Willink, in his fantastic book Extreme Ownership tells an instructive story on point, but it's about the leader, not the flag. The flag is the mark of fealty, to whom? The leader.
2) Jocko tells the story of two boats, rubber boats in the SEAL's Hell Week, boat II and boat VI. Boat II was winning just about everything. Boat VI was losing just about everything. So, they switched out the leaders. I bet you already know what happened.
3) Boat II had a great crew, that had been properly led, so it was able to withstand and inspire their new leader to actually lead, and continued to do very well. The transformation of Boat VI's performance was the phenomenon of Jocko's message.

John Minford, #SunTzu 8: 15, "The wise leader in his deliberations always blends consideration of gain and harm."
We arrive upon yet another phenomenal Yin/Yang continuum. Gain and harm. There are five verses to come which each explain one part of the map for us, all focusing on gain and harm. So, obviously, we need not worry about mastering it today.
Following the coming five verses on gain and harm, we have a verse reiterating the key principle that proper defense precedes attack. And then, we conclude our current chapter with a study of the ultimate five forms of harm, the reasons defeat occurs whenever it does.

John Minford, #SunTzu 8: 14 "The warrior ignorant of the Art of the Nine Changes, may know the Five Gains but will not get the most from his men."
Clearly, we must list them again, the Nine Changes:

1) Intractable Terrain
2) Crossroads
3) Dire
4) Enclosed
5) Death
6) Roads NOT to Take
7) Armies NOT to Attack
8) Towns NOT to Besiege
9) Terrains NOT to Contest
If you've been studying, really studying, then all nine should at least be familiar. But, don't worry, today's focus is only on the first five, called the Five Advantages. The last four, you may recall, is called the Four Contingencies. All nine are the Nine Changes.
