We have a wealth of findings about women. Here is a selection for #InternationalWomensDay
Many around the world say women’s equality is very important, according to our 2015 global survey. This sentiment was strongest in North America, Europe and Latin America. pewrsr.ch/2J0UdtI #InternationalWomensDay
A record number of women are now serving in the new U.S. #116thCongress. pewrsr.ch/2EFzatX #InternationalWomensDay

Breaking: H.R.-1 aka The For The People Act, which includes electoral reform has passed the House in a party line vote. Even tho McConnell has denounced this and the GOP Sen are going nuts, this is a BIG deal. Thank you #116thCongress & @SpeakerPelosi ! thehill.com/homenews/house…
2- Note that this is the bill that McConnell has said he won't allow a vote on, saying "Because I get to decide what we vote on.” as his reasoning. This won't be McConnell's last act of obstructionism, but hopefully the one that tanks him. #FridayFeeling politico.com/story/2019/03/…
3- This from yesterday @ McConnell's efforts to block this bill. Seems that the ONLY way the GOP can win any election is with gerrymandering and other forms of election tampering & that's what this is about for McConnell! thehill.com/homenews/senat…

As the agenda for the #116thCongress is being set, I’ve held several meetings with top administration officials and North Dakota leaders this week to discuss shared priorities.
Yesterday I met with @TheJusticeDept nominee William Barr.

We discussed states’ rights and my concern about the consolidation of litigation authority that's empowered bureaucrats to fight against @POTUS.

He's a qualified nominee and I look forward to supporting him. Image
This morning I spoke with @SecWilkie about rural health care, strengthening the relationship between @DeptVetAffairs and Native American veterans, and giving them health care control.

As a member of @VAChair, I plan to bring him to our state to meet North Dakota veterans. Image

The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (#HSGAC) has a long tradition of working across the aisle to find areas of agreement to solve problems.
Under my chairmanship we developed a mission statement for the committee: to enhance the economic and national security of America and promote more efficient, effective and accountable government.
I’m honored to continue leading the committee’s important work on serious issues facing our nation – border security, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection to name a few – in this nonpartisan spirit during the #116thCongress Image

Moments from a historic day in the #116thCongress:

Ilhan Omar (D-MN) holds Rep. Eric Swalwell’s baby during the swearing-in ceremony.
This is the most diverse Congress in U.S. history.

These are some of the books used to swear in new members:

It is an honor to welcome three talented new Representatives from IL as they are sworn-in as members of Congress in Washington: Reps. Garcia, Casten, and Underwood. In particular, Rep. Underwood’s arrival is historic as she is the youngest African American woman ever in Congress.
Rep. Underwood's career in nursing & experience with the Obama Admin prepared her for her new policy role in the House. Rep. Garcia brings a wealth of experience serving in Cook County & the General Assembly.
And Rep. Casten is a clean energy entrepreneur who brings that background to D.C. at the right moment. I look forward to working with all of them in the #116thCongress.

1/ 2018 was a year of progress in banning the abusive practice known as “conversion therapy.”

As we start 2019, 15 states plus DC protect LGBTQ youth from this form of child abuse.
2/ Despite national, bipartisan support to end this practice, 𝟴 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 in 2018 actually cast a vote in support of “conversion therapy."

@HRC, our members and supporters mobilized to defeat these dangerous candidates at the ballot box. 🗳🗳
3/ In 2018, 6 of those candidates were defeated:

✅ @MikeLevinCA ousted Diane Harkey
@TJCoxCongress ousted David Valadao
@KatiePorterOC ousted Mimi Walters
@KatieHill4CA ousted Steve Knight
@MikieSherrill ousted Jay Webber
@XochforCongress ousted Yvette Herrell

I'm thinking that Don McGahn must be really, REALLY happy that he's out of the WH tonight. This story is enormous. Shame Trump didn't go thru with it. The irony of having him impeached over prosecuting Comey, who cost HRC the election is just too sweet! #DOJ #TuesdayThoughts
