BREAKING: RON JOHNSON JUST ANNOUNCED HE’S RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION. He’s the worst senator up in ‘22—AND the most vulnerable. We can defeat him. Chip in any amount and let’s end Ron Johson’s political career for good. secure.actblue.com/donate/ronjohn…
Ron Johnson is, infamously, @TheWorstSenator. (If you question that distinction, click through to that account.) He burst into a new level of national prominence & loathing after 1/6, when he fed the insurrection—then denied it was an insurrection at all.
And we can’t forget how Johnson scammed every American by giving massive tax breaks to his biggest donors and himself—while, by the way, paying virtually nothing in state income taxes in 2017, and opposing tax breaks for the middle class.

THREAD: Democracy is under assault in Wisconsin—but we’ve been fighting back. Read on for how we’ve sprinted through 2021—and then click to donate so we can hit our year-end goal & ramp up the fight in 2022! wisdems.org/recap
Before we dig into our review of 2021, let’s set the stage—for why anyone outside Wisconsin should care about this state in the first place. Simply put: what happens in politics here shapes the course of the nation.
Wisconsin is the most evenly divided state in the country. 4 of the last 6 presidential elections have come down to less than 1%. In 2020, President Biden won WI by 20,682 votes—a 0.6% margin. In 2018, Gov Evers won by 1.1% As a result, every election here is a titanic battle.

THREAD: Ron Johnson is saying he’ll announce soon whether he’s running. @WisDems is more than ready—we've campaigned all year. Help us hit our mid-December goal of $10K by 12/15. Chip in any amount to help us make sure Johnson's campaign launch falls flat:
secure.actblue.com/donate/johnson…
Reporters and insiders think the overwhelming likelihood is that Johnson WILL run for reelection—even though his closing argument in the 2016 election was that he’d never run again after that year. We’ll know for certain soon.
If you’ve been following @WisDems, you know we haven’t been waiting around for Johnson to make it official. We spent all of 2021 organizing & communicating statewide—and defining Ron Johnson. Our goal: sear Johnson’s egregious record into voters’ memories.

Democracy in Wisconsin is under brutal assault with the GOP pushing to charge members of our bipartisan election commission with felonies. We’re fighting back—and the stakes couldn't be higher. Help us hit our Nov goal of 101 new monthly donors by midnight:wisdems.org/november
Republicans are trying to seize control from our state’s election commission and put the GOP-dominated Wisconsin state legislature in charge of elections. This would open a direct path to Republican politicians overturning election results they don’t like.
Republican Speaker Robin Vos says that most of the members of Wisconsin's bipartisan Elections Commission should “probably” face criminal charges.

While national attention was on Virginia on Tuesday night, we had good news here in Wisconsin: The GOP machine (and @RebeccaforReal) went all-in on divisive school board recall campaigns… and fell flat on its face on election day.
We knew there would be challenges. We know Wisconsin elections are always close. 2022 will be no different. That’s exactly why, in Wisconsin, we’ve been obsessively prepping for a tough fight.

We're zooming along as we plan the 2021 #1Year2Win organizing drive, supercharging our work so we can reelect @GovEvers and beat @RebeccaforReal & @SenRonJohnson. So I just read through the thread from 2019. Kinda gives me chills—it all really happened.
As it turned out, this was exactly right: Wisconsin *was* 2020's tipping-point state.
And Trump *did* increase his votes here dramatically in 2020. By 15%, in fact.

Congratulations to @JoeBiden on becoming our presumptive nominee, and to @BernieSanders for running a noble campaign that raises issues of urgent importance. He has made our party and nation stronger.

We now have 209 days until November 3. Let's come together and defeat Trump.
At the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, we've described our mission—alongside winning critical state & local races and building long-term infrastructure—as building a presidential scale campaign without a nominee. Now, we've got a presumptive nominee. We're ready.
The chair who preceded me, Martha Laning, vowed to never repeat the crushing experience of 2016—and launched a visionary field organizing program that spring. By the fall of 2018, Wisconsinites knocked on a stunning number of doors and powered a clean sweep of statewide races.

The @WisDems team just debriefed on the #1Year2Win push. 50k+ doors. 3750+ donations. TV cameras in every corner of the state. An unprecedented mobilization. We’re so grateful, and so inspired. To all who stepped up, thank you—and here's to what's next! wisdems.org/1year2win
@WisDems So many of our elected leaders, from @GovEvers and @TammyBaldwin through local city council members and school board members, kicked off canvasses and knocked on doors. Thousands of volunteers walked turf in the snow. County party leaders, neighborhood teams—everyone. Amazing.
@WisDems @GovEvers @tammybaldwin We showed the country that we're not giving up and we're not taking anything for granted. And more importantly, we proved it to ourselves. I spoke to people who've canvassed for decades and had never seen anything like it so early. And folks knocking on doors for the first time.

Exactly one year from today, you’ll wake up and it’ll be Election Day. What happens then will be determined by what happens now, and for the next year. Make the choice. Spend this time so you won’t regret what you didn’t do. 1/
In Wisconsin, this year has a particular weight. Our votes, and those of our neighbors, are many times more likely than those of other Americans to determine whether we slide deeper—maybe irrevocably—into Trumpist division, lawlessness, and plutocracy. Or choose something better.
That’s why, in Wisconsin, we’ve been organizing like it’s an Election Day *right now.* Why we’ve already knocked on tens of thousands of doors for our #1year2win push. Why @TammyBaldwin is kicking off a canvass—one of dozens—at 9am today. Find one near you:wisdems.org/2020

THREAD: Trump is moving NOW to lock down Wisconsin, 2020's tipping point state, a year early—but we've got the plan to stop him. We'll knock 50,000 doors for our #1Year2Win campaign—& need your help to fund it. Can you read this thread, RT, & chip in here? wisdems.org/1Year2win
For a moment, put aside the primary. Put aside impeachment. Think about Election Day: November 3, 2020. If it's close, if there's a single state that determines who wins, just about every analysis says it'll be Wisconsin.
What does "tipping-point" state mean? Take all the states where Trump is *less* popular than Wisconsin, and it’s not enough to win the Electoral College.

All the states where he’s *more* popular than Wisconsin: also not enough to win the Electoral College.

WI tips the balance.
