I took this photo in Selma during the Bridge Crossing weekend in March. The hands you see are those of Mrs. Juanita Abernathy (widow of Rev. Ralph) and ⁦@RevJJackson⁩. The love w/which they greeted each other in Brown’s Chapel Church was so genuine and moving. #2018
Looking up to see the Lynching memorial at the @MemPeaceJustice in the distance was breathtaking. I will never forget that moment. April #2018
An hour in the @NPG to see up close @kehindewiley & #AmySherald’s portraits of President & Mrs. Obama. These moments were so restoring for me this year. Just go on your lunch hour. It’s never crowded and it’s free.#2018Wrapped

2018 was a tough year for civ rts & justice. I’m proud of how civil rights lawyers & activists fought & often won. The year was also marked by extraordinary, wonderful & uplifting experiences that strengthened me for the battles ahead. I’m grateful for each of those experiences.
A surprise party last Jan. to commemorate my 5th anniversary as Director-Counsel at @NAACP_LDF attended by the two living former D-Cs, my mentors Elaine Jones and Ted Shaw. My girl @JNelsonLDF set me up masterfully. I was clueless right up to the moment. It was lovely.
Had a moment with the great one - Justice Bader Ginsburg - at @ConstitutionCtr where we first met 25 years ago. Also good to see my friend Marcia Greenberger.
