Breaking News: The military has declared an amnesty of over 23,000 prisoners either serving prison sentences or in custody facing trial. High-profile nationalists Wirathu and former USDP MP Hla Swe are expected to be among those released. #2021uprising 
The amnesty will not only see the release of those charged with sedition under the ousted NLD government, but is also expected to be used to create space in prison for those involved in the ongoing movement against the military coup.
After nearly a year and a half on the lam, ultranationalist Buddhist monk Wirathu surrendered to the police a week before last year's elections to face charges of sedition. He is highly expected to be among the prisoners released today.
