Day 2 #30DaysWild peace and tranquility forest bathing in the magical Jack Flat woods.
Today started with a bang on the window.
Yellow feathers still looping & drifting in the air.
One of the fledglings Iāve enjoyed watching ālearn the ropesā this month. A goldfinch.
It flipped over & when I gathered it up, watched me with one eye.

As it warmed up in my hands, and came round from being stunned, it calmly alternated between watching me and nodding off. I left it safe, warm, with food, water and a way back out if it felt better.

Iād meant to visit Hannah Hauxwellās farm for years. Not sure I used official roads...got there in the end. Hannah who?

First saw @KTTunstall half a life ago, (before Jools Holland was lucky enough to meet her), casting spells @KomediaBrighton with Warsaw Village Folk Band. I wanted to see her again but her nearest gig was in Glasgow.

Helga cared for fell ponies all her life. Fed, checked them & rode into her 80s. In her spare time she helped set up Cumbria Wildlife Trust. Wrote books.
At work, she managed National Nature Reserves & chose SSSIs.
This was Harry's house. Not Helga's.

She loved her family's meadows too.
She took a break from university to join the Land Army. Switched to zoology when she returned.
I'm inspired every day by Helga & people I've met, who are wild, like her.
