Strange isn't it (or maybe not!) how many of the groups let down by #pensions policy contain significantly large numbers of #women?
Younger #women would do well to support #50sWomen, who have seen all these failings coming & are fighting on YOUR BEHALF to force Govt action!

2. Public expenditure on State Pensions in the UK is among the lowest in the OECD; this reflects the fact that the main state pension for current pensioners is nearly £40 per week less than the government’s own poverty threshold (the means-tested minimum guarantee Pension Credit)
3. The new Single Tier Pension is just above the single rate of Pension Credit but due to transitional rules, it will be decades before women generally receive as much state pension as men.

When young I was denied joining my employer’s pension scheme because I was a woman. Other employers allowed only monthly paid or those earning over a certain amount to join. Women were generally weekly paid & unlikely to earn the same as men. #BackTo60 #FullRestitution #50sWomen
Later years I believed my firm had a pension scheme for male employees. I asked my then boss if it would be possible for me to have a pension to support a meagre SP. He said no. To comfort me he reminded me I reached SPA at 60, which wasn’t too bad!#BackTo60 #50sWomen #NoCrumbs
As a mum I worked part time in the 80s; earnings weren’t high; my employer’s pension contribution would’ve helped & if contributions were low initially, they would’ve increased in later years as I worked more. To challenge an employer was a no no, for fear of job loss. #BackTo60

@bbcquestiontime @IBlackfordSNP Thank you so much for speaking up for #50swomen #waspi. £271-400billion was taken out of the NI FUND as treasury stopped paying in their share around time of bank crash. More than enough to provide decent pensions #NHS & benefit funding.

@gletherby @GazNorris15 How many know that govts failed to pay in £271-400 billion into the NI fund as per the tripartite agreement for around 25 years❓That money could have helped #NHS #benefits & #pensions. They also stole 6 years pensions from #50swomen making massive savings #backto60 @NHSMillion

This betrayal left millions of women with no time to make alternative plans – with many devastating personal consequences. Labour recognises this injustice, and will work with these women to design systems of recompense for the losses and insecurity they have suffered.
