"We may receive commission if you decide to use counseling services through BetterHelp or other resources on our website." Persons needing help deserve an unbiased un-capitalized source for vetted resources.
3/ FTC's release on Betterhelp.
ftc.gov/news-events/ne… So maybe Betterhelp made a correction I don't know, but I guarantee at least some on the rest of that list have serious data concerns. Who actually cares about this at SAMHSA?

It's #WorldSuicidePreventionDay!
As a suicidologist and someone who has experienced chronic suicidality since age 9, I want to offer some insights that mainstream prevention orgs don't often share. 🧵
Suicidal ideation does not mean a person needs to be immediately hospitalized against their will. A significant portion of the population experiences suicidal ideation and never acts on it. I'd argue that it's a "normal" response to many difficult life situations.
Suicidality isn't always episodic. That means that for some people, the desire to die never goes away. We wake up, think about it, and carry on with our day. I've seen this called "grey suicidality" online and it's fairly common. Again, not an emergency.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for kids starting at age 10. Horrifically, it's also in the top 10 causes of death for kids starting at age 5.

We need all the help we can get.

988 is available to anyone regardless of age, but a new feature super important for kids and teenagers is the ability to directly text 988—and they are using it.

In the large California sample below, 90% of individuals texting for help in a crisis were 18 or younger
2) Schools

988 & mobile crisis can respond to behavioral incidents at schools without police.

In CT, mobile crisis units partnered with schools to address the school-to-prison pipeline. Participating schools saw a decrease in school arrests of 40-100%
