Les racines et les collets sont affectés, entrainant la mort des jeunes pousses. Sur votre planche de culture, cela se traduit concrètement par un rang clairsemé, ou peu de graines ont germé, ou par le brunissement de la base puis de la totalité des toutes jeunes plantules.
Les responsables de la fonte des semis se nourrissent de matières organiques en décomposition et qui se déplacent dans le sol, via l’eau pelliculaire présente. Ils peuvent se trouver naturellement dans la terre, dans les terreaux ou sur les graines.
