Our co-founder @JKim_Tran shared about #NFT utility from a #dev perspective at @openwebfounders.

👇Here is what you can learn about #web3 #dev when building for #NFTutility.
Building for #NFT utility requires multiple features.

You need to build for NFT #distribution, #data, and #validation, or partner with other platforms for different features.
When choosing #web3 dev tools, here is an evaluation checklist:

1) Other platform #adoption
2) Can they keep up with your growth? Does their #roadmap align with yours?
3) How to get help?
4) #web3community is small. Can you get a direct line with the #founders?

If you have trouble accepting that adoption involves complex & chronic developmental trauma because it makes you feel badly about using adoption as a “solution” to abortion, it’s time to re-evaluate your beliefs.

Without trauma-informed services, it’s very difficult to ensure the stability of as many adoptive families as possible. If you only care that kids are adopted but don’t care if they achieve safety & stability post-adoption, you don’t belong in this life-altering conversation.
To add for fellow activists - yes family preservation comes first. In the case of my message here, adopted kids continue to be created and continue to struggle post-adoption. And I *have* to provide & fight for post-adoption support & societal understanding on their behalf.

As one of only a few post-adoption support specialists in the U.S., I’m disheartened to see folks use anti-abortion arguments that both encourage more adoptions while undermining the validity of post-adoption support at the same time. (Continued…)

That’s what’s happening when people essentially publicly insist “Adoption can’t involve trauma because I need to feel good about using it in a politically-motivated argument about abortion.” OK well adoption does involve trauma - your argument is the problem.
Like, it’s super clear to adoptees that so many only care about our existence in an abstract sense as it pertains to political arguments. However, far less people will honor the emotional, intellectual, and cultural labor it takes to live out our developmental trajectory.

Really interesting 168-strong survey, though a shame that only 2 surrogate mothers responded, so with an unintentional focus on those who benefit from #surrogacy it collects key data with balance provided. Our analysis follows. Epic 🧵 1.
2. Same sex respondents (9), 5 admit to using ‘legal loopholes’ to access #commercialsurrogacy in #Ukraine – laws there only permit infertile heterosexual couples to apply for #surrogacy
3. Reason for choosing #surrogacy: #adoption was restricted or not available (this refers to other countries, UK does not discriminate legally against same-sex couples) but #surrogacy can be either expensive or cheap.

Apparently, there are lots of new eyes on #adopteetwitter & #adopteevoices this weekend, so I'm thinking this is a good time 2 share a few quick facts about adoption—truths that aren't examined often enough. 1. Most relinquishing mothers surrender not bc they're unfit 1/
parents, but bc they're single, poor, young, &/or overwhelmed. These conditions are almost always temporary, but our society (& the adoption industry) pressures them 2 choose a permanent solution for these temporary "problems." Not bc that's what's best for baby-to-be, but bc 2/
millions of adults covet newborns & bc they're worth big $$$ to the $18 billion /yr adoption industry.
2.Desperately wanting children doesn't automatically make someone a good parent—or even a decent person.
3. Adoption promises a 'better life,' but can only actually deliver 3/

A petitioner in person appears in person for a plea seeking relaxations in the adoption modalities of India

Petitioner: Around 4,000 children are adopted in India every year and there are 3 crores orphans with thousands being infertile.

#supremecourt #orphan
Petitioner: Prospective parents are often not that educated. adoption is governed by Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act. this act is administered by law and justice ministry. but subject of orphans is handled by ministry of women and child. this is an anomaly
Petitioner: they are not taking action on my representation since they are busy and they say they dont want children to end up in wrong hands. But I have seen 6 instances in my life only

DYC J: 6 is only what must have been reported

Woman outside PP yesterday w/ a sign that read, "PLEASE DON'T ABORT WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO START A FAMILY FOR 4 YEARS WE WILL ADOPT YOUR BABY!" Want to know what I do when I see one of those signs? I pull in & park. I ask the signholder their name. I go inside & pay for a 1/
stranger's abortion in their "honor." I have that printed on the donation receipt. I give it to them on the way back to my car. Ppl who think that bc they're infertile, others OWE them not just pregnancy, labor, childbirth--BUT ALSO THEIR FREAKING FLESH & BLOOD--make me 2/
physically ill. That's a level of entitlement I can't even wrap my head around--& those are ppl who should take a freaking hint from the Universe that made them, bc they aren't fit to parent anyone. 3/3 #adoption #adopteevoices #abortionisessential

Thread 🧵 on the #nano demo at our event yesterday.

The Kappture/NANO integration is native. We don't use third parties. Our system derives a unique address per tx from the merchants 'master' public key which we hold for our clients.

$XNO #cryptocurrency #adoption @Kappture1
The assets remains under the merchants custody at all times. Kappture doesn't hold the private keys.

We are looking at ways of protecting merchants from asset volatility without slowing the tx, counterparty risk, and fees. This remains the biggest barrier to merchant adoption.
My team are investigating how we can implement consumer-offline NFC transactions. @EMVCo based solutions have this and they are the benchmark we're working to.

Merchants are genuinely excited by this tech. They just need a turnkey solution from a provider they trust.

Thread. #Adoption is a reproductive rights issue and here’s why…
Adoption is a multi billion dollar industry- an industry that influences adoption policy and practice. This is called the adoption industrial complex.
Another example of industrial complex is the Prison–Industrial Complex — Businesses access labor from prisoners that is cheaper than civilian labor, thus they profit from high incarceration rates.
Medical–Industrial Complex — Hospitals and pharmaceutical companies require patients to be sick, thus business interests are at odds with the goal of making people healthy. See where this is going?

2/ My late mum, Josie, was the last of four children born non-maritally in Wexford in 1933. Adoption didn’t exist then and her two older brothers were raised in-family, because they were boys and useful. A sister born before her died age 4 in the county home.
3/ Josie was packed off to St Dominic’s in Waterford where she spent roughly 4 years getting an “education.” She fondly remembered day trips to Tramore and only ever referred to this time as “when I was in school in Ireland.”

Convince me that artificial reproductive technologies (ARTs) r the right choice for society & individuals to pursue rather than reducing environmental & other risk factors for #infertility & promotion of ethical #fostering & #adoption.

Convince me that having biological issue is worth ART's tremendous expense & medical risks.
If you tell me infertility is causing marital discord, I tell you that that marriage may have bigger problems.

🧵 November is National #Adoption Awareness Month. Adoption should be safe (mentally, emotionally, physically for adopted people & birth parents), legal (with protections for everyone involved), & rare (if we are supporting pregnant people and families as we should). #NAAM
Domestic adoption is largely rooted in the resourcelessness and powerless of first/birth families. This will be a 🧵 with direct quotes from the women I interviewed for my current book project; I’ll add to it throughout November. All of these participants relinquished since 2000.
My work is about considering what adoption within a reproductive justice framework would mean. Importantly, all my participants terminated their parental rights at their child’s birth, and these adoptions were not due to state intervention in their parenting rights.

I'm not doing it anymore. I'm not doing bad-faith arguments about #adoption with people who don't want to hear it. "Would you rather have been raised by your drug addict mother?" She was not an addict (a *very* overused assumption of first mothers) and yes, I'd have...
...rather been raised by her, had she had access to the financial and social supports that she needed.
"Would you rather have been aborted?" No, and if it doesn't horrify you that adoption and abortion exist in this either/or binary, you don't know enough about...
...the realities of adoption *and* quite frankly you are not very creative or intellectually flexible.

"Well, what do you suggest, then?"

(2\21) This debate is not a new debate when a network with “disruptive technology” has occurred in the past. It’s important to understand that what makes a network valuable is the participants on that network, not only the technology. In fact if you have the best

WOW @WIRED. This entire article is a dangerous, hyperbolic gishgallop of inaccuracies and stereotypes adoption scholars have labored decades to correct. And are easily disproven. I’m rarely speechless. But I don’t even know where to begin. #adoption #antiadoption #wired
Most pressing is mid-defining the Adoptee Rights Movement and calling it the “anti-adoption movement.” There *is* no anti-adoption movement in the U.S. A few anonymous and individual accounts do not comprise a movement and are certainly not the Adoptee Rights Movement. @WIRED
#AdopteeRights is about 1) increasing post-adoption support; 2) establishing equity for dependent children; 3) modernizing adoption to current best practices; 4) rectifying injustices that hurt adopted people and their families. Does your author have an issue with that? @WIRED
