Game 5 of the Astros-Red Sox American League Championship Series had a slight delay Wednesday when umpires noticed a light against the outfield wall with the Astros leading big in the sixth inning.

Because the Red Sox have been busted illegally stealing signs before and Red Sox manager Alex Cora was part of the 2017 Astros' sign-stealing scheme, people immediately jumped to conclusions that something nefarious was going on.

(Baseball nerd alert:)

It's a great statistic that the @astros/@RedSox #ALCS features the second-most combined wins ever for opponents in a @MLB playoff series (211).

But if you go by winning %age instead of wins, it isn't even one of the top 20 all-time best playoff matchups.
Indeed, eight of the first 10 World Series featured teams with a higher combined winning percentage than their 0.651 (211/324), topped by 1906, in which the Cubs and White Sox had a combined winning percentage of 0.690.

Over a 162-game season, that would = 223.5 combined wins.
And even since baseball went to a 162-game schedule in 1961, the 2018 Astros & Red Sox have only the fourth-best total winning percentage of playoff opponents, behind the 1995 Braves & Indians (0.660); the 2001 Mariners & Yankees (0.655), and the 1998 Yankees & Padres (0.654).
