All this talk about the NATA on #ATTwitter I have one main gripe with the NATA. They're broke. And not COVID broke. They're you're pre-pandemic broke bestie that always wants to go on vacation but then you end up at a KFC in Italy wishing you never came.
They dipped into the red in 2017 and apparently haven't figured it out since. Of course the pandemic wasn't going to be good for them. I wonder what that 2021 tax filing looks like smh. And then on top of that, the money isn't going all the places people say it is.
The AIP recommends that 60% of a nonprofits total expenses should be spent on program services rather than administration or fundraising. CharityWatch rates nonprofits that spend at least 75% of their income on mission work as efficient. How does the NATA line up as a 501c3?

Tomorrow will be my last day as a Division I Athletic Trainer (probably ever) and my Sunday scaries have got me doing a lot of reflecting on how I got to this point #ATtwitter 🧵
I’ve been in DI athletic training for 8 years, most recently as a division I Men’s basketball AT. I’m the picture of a successful collegiate AT. My athletes trust me. My coaches and coworkers respect me. I’m incredibly hardworking. I’ve cut down postseason nets 3 times. Image
But privately, this profession has eaten me up and spit me out. I need a break. I’m exhausted. At one point this season I worked a stretch of 90 days in a row without a day off (including weekends!) Image

Hello #ATTwitter I present to you my first Industrial AT Tweetorial. We will explore industrial AT settings. Is it boring? Maybe, but a lot of people only imagine Amazon or NASA when they think about industrial ATs but actually, we have about as many options as there are sports.
MANUFACTURING - Making up 8.5% of the workforce the manufacturers pump out goods day and night. ATs will find themselves flexing ergonomic skills, combating chronic/repetitive injuries, triaging acute injury & illness, and responding to medical emergencies at their facility.
Manufacturing ATs must know and understand every single process in the plant along with the common injuries that result from certain processes & machines.

Examples: Toyota, Ford, Dell, Boeing, Volvo, Unilever, Estee Lauder, Ashley Furniture, Sony, Nissan

In 21 days, there have been FIVE deaths in sports.
7/26 - 15 y.o collapsed at practice (97°),
8/8 18 y.o - collapsed at conditioning (SCA),
8/9 15 y.o - collapsed at conditioning
8/10 16 y.o collapsed at practice (heat index 105°),
8/10 17 y.o - passed out at practice.
Let that sink in. 5 deaths in 21 days. 4 in the span of 4 days. As ATs, we can advocate all we want, but until EVERYONE is on board (coaches, parents, athletes, admin, officials), this will be a trend we see yearly.
Coaches: if it feels hot, it is hot. If you wouldn't go out there and do the drill, maybe it's a sign the players shouldn't. Adjust drills based on position and even player size and health. Allow more than enough times for water breaks or rest out of direct sunlight, helmets off
