Today’s robust #inflation data surprised in its strength and will likely persist in the short-run, and in some areas the intermediate-term, although we think that long-term the @federalreserve is largely correct in identifying real #economy price gains as mostly #transitory.
Much of today’s #inflation is due to reopening factors and supply constraints, but as #SupplyChains normalize from Covid-related shocks and #inventories rebuild, we expect much of the recent inflation will be transitory, with some stickiness in pricing pressure longer-run.
That may be especially the case where #inventory levels are harder to build up quickly and continued #demand from higher levels of #growth persist for at least the next year, or so.

Some thoughts on that @UBS bubble index report that came out the other day - where Toronto was the 2nd highest city (biggest risk) in the 🌎. Or at least the 24 selective cities covered. (Chart via @AxiosVisuals ) /1
First of all, something I haven't seen reported was that Toronto's risk number has actually fallen the last couple of years from 2.12 > 1.95 > 1.86. /2
Toronto's ranking was #1 in 2017 and #3 in 2018 (behind Hong Kong and Munich). Big reason Toronto has climbed in the rankings is that other top cities have reset. Graphic relates to 2016 rankings. Could still be some air to be let out of Toronto's prices. /3

This #ClimateEmergency report outlines 6 Big Moves for Council to direct staff to pursue & come back w. comprehensive/costed plans. Plus 53 Accelerated Actions to move on now. The targets are strong & won’t be easy. This is what governing in line with the science looks like.
Big Move 1: By 2030, 90% of people will live within an easy walk/roll of their daily needs (we’re at 45%). Focused on land-use & complete n'hoods, it would ⬇️ 153,000 tonnes carbon/year, while creating ⬆️ housing choices, ⬆️ social interaction, and supporting local businesses.
