The parole process is now out. This is a streamlined and fee exempt program for certain Afghans paroled in during the NEO and aftermath. This is a big deal. Thank you to our USG partners who made this happen. This is not a permanent fix and we still need the #AfghanAdjustmentAct
It’s not a perfect process, so eligible parolees should not hesitate to seek help from an expert or immigration attorney if they need. But it’s a lot better than where we were a month ago. Lots of experts worked hand in hand with the USG to show them what right looks like.
Folks will need a MyUSCIS account to get this done, however there is a paper process if that’s not available. Here’s an explainer from USCIS

Background: After 20 years in #Afghanistan, the U.S. ended our military presence in August 2021. The Taliban quickly took over the country & rapidly eroded gains made by the Western-backed #Afghan government in the past twenty years. 82,000 #Afghans were evacuated into the U.S.

Here's the thing about the #AfghanAdjustmentAct: The evacuation chaos that resulted in 10s of thousands of Afghans being rushed to the US w/o careful prioritizing of who should get on planes, is the fault of @POTUS. Reps & Dems are right to call out the admin over this. 1/ 🧵
However, by blocking the #AfghanAdjustmentAct, @ChuckGrassley is punishing the Afghans who have already been been punished by poor US actions. It's not their fault the evac was chaos. It does not make sense to further punish the victims of the chaos. 2/

The #AfghanAdjustmentAct is a national security bill that provides the stability our Afghan allies so desperately need. Over 70,000, brought here during the evacuation, are in limbo come the new year. Our allies put their lives on the line for a new vision of #Afghanistan
People across #Afghanistan risked their lives and the lives of their families to work with US and #NATO forces - this moral obligation lies heavily on us. At least, it does to me as an OEF veteran. If we truly believe the values we preach, we need to pass the #AfghanAdjustmentAct
Millions across the globe have felt a stir at "All men are created equal" since 1776, and have striven for self-determination. Do we not owe it to those who most recently fought for this ideal, who risked their lives for US troops? That's why #ISupportAAA 
After our #Afghan withdrawal, over 76,000 Afghans were airlifted out of #Afghanistan to the U.S, including Special Immigrant Visa (SIV)-eligible individuals, their family members, and other Afghans who aided the U.S., as well as those who would qualify for #refugee status.
Most of these individuals have been or will be admitted to the U.S. under parole, a process that affords temporary lawful presence in the United States for “urgent humanitarian reasons.”
