At least the West must acknowledge and accept that after a botched up, ill-planned exit from Afghanistan, the looming humanitarian crisis is their responsibility. Before they lecture the world on universal human rights, they must practice what they preach!

It was a preferred posting for U.S. diplomats until 1979 when Amb. Adolph Dubs was kidnapped then killed by pro-Soviet police. The Peace Corps & USAID were sent home, and the U.S. mission greatly diminished to just dozens of people.

Interestingly No women have ever been part of decision making on future of AF. It has always been white males & elite Afghan males sitting far away from the sound of guns by the side of pools to discuss AF.
Unpopular opinion but easiest thing to do right now is to blame Pakistan for the mess. That is intellectual dishonesty, the blame needs to be owed by US and all its allies for disturbing AF’s relations with its neighbours who could have sorted things well.
