Neighbours said they were shocked at the news of his arrest and said that the man and his family are “extremely kind” people. They said that the family has been living in the house for generations and Yaseen was born here.
Mohammed Islam, 48, who runs a mechanic shop opposite the house said that Yaseen is a religious man and a prominent voice in Meena Bazar where he runs his shop. “He is a simple man. He doesn’t even know how to ride a scooter. I have never heard of him ever visiting Kashmir".

Have filled an official complaint with @DGPMaharashtra , @CPMumbaiPolice against Justice @KolsePatilBG under IPC section 153A, 153B, 295, 298, 34, 506 for his inflammatory speech given in January 2020 at #AntiCAA rally organised by “Jammat E Islami Hind” in Mumbai . (1/2)

His right to be free from the outrageous sedition charge has to be defended against the fact that it was #SharjeelImam who first wanted #ShaheenBagh wound up. When he pulled out in early Jan, he declared in a cock-sure tone that the movement would "die a natural death tonight".
Why? Only because it was not going according to some grand plan cooking in his head. A self-imagined vanguard, Sharjeel couldn't quite countenance the idea that the women at the centre of Shaheen Bagh had will, desire, agency and sense-making capacity of their own.
