Team Analysis: Arsenal’s various attacking mechanisms [THREAD]

The Gunners are flying under Mikel #Arteta this season, currently ranking 1st in the Premier League. A key component of their success are the different chance creation methods, which will be analysed in this thread.
Dynamical space occupation and rotations:
Rather than simply occupying spaces, the forwards aim to dynamically arrive at specific areas, making them harder to mark. Furthermore, the Gunners would at times purposefully leave spaces unoccupied to then move into them quickly.
Moreover, they use different kinds of rotations, which can cause a dilemma for the opposition and might end up in the creation of a free man or the generation of space.

Another season without top 4 has, inevitably, brought familiar tension to the fore despite reaching our initial target.

Progress was made. 4th shoulda been secured. BUT…

The #Arsenal could not be in better shape.

A 🧵
We *might* close on 69 points. More than last season, and the season before.

More than enough to finish top 4 in several of the last #EPL seasons.

Why the uproar?

Because Spurs smashed us en route to pipping us to fourth. With £100m Kane & the imperious Son.
Given our status -

youngest team in EPL / young & naive manager / new PROGRESSIVE system / HUGE squad turnover / injuries / lack of quality depth / slow start / no #9 / an ambitious but failed Jan window / etc.

- it’s entirely expected and reasonable.

A step too far. Always felt likely after Spurs.

We’ve improved a tonne vs last season. This is the youngest team in the league. Minimal experience out there today. It was too much. They bottled it.

A HUGE learning curve. This’ll make or break young players.
Our squad depth is woeful. No Partey / Tierney has been impossible to solve. No Gabriel at Spurs. Elneny / Holding / Cedric / Taveres just ain’t good enough.

No settled striker has cost us BIG time.

Fill those gaps, whilst these young players evolve, and we step up levels again
This project is worth backing. It emits oodles of potential. The squad has been through a complete makeover in just 2 seasons. We’re early in the process.

I’m not gonna turn on them because they bottled 2 games right at the close, given all the context.

When you make a change with a long time coach like @Arsenal have done, you are left with 2 options for success again.

1. Throw money at the problem and watch it go away.

2. Plan long term.
Arsenal went with option 1 initially, bringing in Ivan Gazidis, Raul Sanllehi, Unai Emery and splashing the cash on Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz, Sokratis, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and a few more.
Also breaking our salary structure by taking new contracts to ridiculous levels thereby hurting the financial position of the club which was well managed by Super Man Wenger and his team.
