My perspective

Lack of will & intent by Govt dispensation (ஏதோ நாலு குடுமி கூட்டம் வரும், அதுக்கு இது போதும் attitude. Never expected such a turnout nor planned for it)

Lack of food items once you enter premises. Only available when you are on temple corridor.
Online booking is a scam. Period.

Forget your footwear. No place to drop them or collect back.

Lack of civility by so-called devotees. Cutting queues en masse whilst cops are mere witnesses (can't blame them, they do their vocal best).

Chances of extreme dehydration.

History of Athi Varadha
Athi Varadharaja is one among the 4 Brahma Kararchita Varadaja moorthies , carved out of Athi Tree by Vishwakarma in Kritha Yuga. This moorthi was the main deity (Moola Moorthi) in the Grabhagraha, i.e inside PunyaKooti Vimana, until early 16th century

For nearly 40 long years, the temple had no moorthies in the grabhagraha and no pooja was being performed in the temple. The two brothers in Dhatacharya lineage, who were the Dharamakartha of the temple at that time and under whose authority the hiding of moorthy took place,

Had a horrible (and somewhat embarrassing) experience trying to get darshan of #AthiVarathar today. A few friends had told us that the rush isn't a worry as the crowd was handled effectively when they had visited, so we had taken the kids along with us.
But clearly, the number of people visiting, I was told, has gone up drastically in the last 4-5 days. People are coming in groups on tourist buses from all over the state! And the authorities don't seem to have factored in THIS kind of crowd while making the security arrangements
We had started from Chennai by 6am and reached Kanchipuram by 8am. Since cars are stopped a km or so from the temple, we walked to the street where where the queue was. It was about 8.20am. So far so good.
