THREAD: gonna be real clear. Do not start a service to help someone w/logistics in getting an abortion simply because you are passionate about helping. It’s dangerous. THINGS TO KNOW: FIRST- there already are organizations that do this.
like @MidwestAccess @FundMSabortions and Haven coalition among them. These are networks that have been developed with experts and you should use your enthusiasm and money to support and help them grow.THIS IS SERIOUS.
I have done this work for YEARS and raise money to help them and amplify them BUT stay in my lane BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THEIR EXPERTISE.
There are logistical and safety issues and legalities and nuances that these orgs have developed. PLEASE understand this.

I’m cautiously watching this #AuntieNetwork thing spread. I want black women to lead anything like this or #undergroundrailroad2019 that draws on our cultural legacies in terminology but also because the needs of black & poor people must to be centered in these networks most.
If we are going to organize, we organize for real. There needs to be leadership. Not a leader singular, but leadership with a shared understanding & modeling of what being part of an #AuntieNetwork actually means.
Nice middleclass white ladies might tweet it but are you really open to having a poor black teenager show up on your door w/ a backpack & $20 to her name? What about if a young Latinx transman wants to stay with you? Who are you willing to auntie? Who are you prepared to support?
