The hole Canada's Denis Shapovalov dug for himself with early erratic play in #AustralianOpen quarterfinal was too deep as he fell to Rafael Nadal seeking a record 21st major title.

@DamoSpin with the match analysis:…
At the start, Shapovalov looked to be a thoroughly beaten player after losing the first two sets of the match against Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal.

He seemed out-of-sorts, serving poorly, volleying awkwardly, arguing with the chair umpire.…
At one point, after more arguing between Shapovalov and the umpire, Nadal approached the net for a brief chat with Shapovalov, and seemed to be trying to calm the irritated Canadian.

Then, the game flipped.…

I have seen a lot of discussions on #NFTs where people think of them as just some pixelated punk images which were made in the 90s, 3D render of apes to just very expensive JPEGS

It is not about the JPEG, there's more to it! 🌆

A thread on NFTs 👇🏼

Let's forget the image part of an NFT, owning an NFT would mean that you own a specific digital asset on the blockchain

A digital asset is the main focus, not the image

Being on the blockchain would mean that you or anyone in the world can see which wallet owns the digital asset

So everybody can check the owner but nobody can change it - obviously except the owner

Morning! Who doesn't love spending a Sunday in the federal Court with Chief Justice James Allsop, Justice Anthony Besanko and Justice David O’Callaghan. #NovakDjokovic
Here's where you can watch:

Some introductory remarks from CJ Allsop - he's suggeted given the quality of the written submissions, the hearing itself could be done by lunchtime. But he's not putting a time on it.

#BREAKING Immigration Minister Alex Hawke has cancelled Novak Djokovic’s visa “on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so”.
Here's the full statement:
There's probably three possible outcomes from here:

1: Djokovic accepts the decision and gets on a plane, giving up his chance of back-to-back #AustralianOpen wins.

All week I've had the Jeopardy think music going around in my head. Today it's that song from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.
Previously on the Novak Djokovic's #AustralianOpen saga:…
Independent senator Jacqui Lambie has suggested Immigration Minister Alex Hawke is "missing in action" as the world awaits a decision from him on Novak Djokovic's visa. From @domgiannini_ and @AndrewBrownAU…

I've never been so interested in Alex Hawke's movements, but here we are again - today's looking like decision day.

Worth keeping in mind the #AustralianOpen draw begins at 3pm (AEDT).
That should make things interesting. If the decision is to revoke Djokovic's visa and deport him, there's a good chance we'll be back in court - but whether that means the draw goes ahead without him, gets put on hold or has to be redone are all factors that'll come into play.
It's also possible though, given how things have unfolded, that he'll accept the decision and leave quietly. Maybe not quietly, but you know what I mean.

1. So, #Novax #Djokovic's family held a press conference, claiming the anti-vax tennis player was fighting for "personal choice".

Funny, I thought that this was about him fighting to be able to play in the #AustralianOpen.
2. But when the family was asked specifically about #Djokovic's public appearances on December 17th, the day after he found out he was COVID+ (FOR THE SECOND TIME!!!)...

Oh, well then, the family didn't want the attention of cameras anymore and adjourned the press conference.
3. It seems that the family has a distinct preference for unilateral communication during which they talk AT us.

Meanwhile in #France,
"the peak of this second wave is over"

(according to the President in his Adress to the Nation):
Wait... "the peak is over" doesn´t mean "it´s back to normal"!

Confinement will only fall on December 15,
if there´s less than 5.000 new cases a day.
(today it´s ~9.000).

France is disappointed.🙁

Although they certainly can make it happen.
Meanwhile in #Switzerland:
(excess mortality of the second wave is significant)

Good news: fastest decrease in infections happens in the worst hit areas now.

We all know that @rogerfederer is one of the greatest sportsmen of all time. Today, the Swiss Maestro, the GOAT, turns 39 - almost twice the age as the number of Singles majors he’s won! What did you know about him - and what did you think you didn’t? Read through:
Where did his tennis ‘start’?
@rogerfederer idolised some of tennis’ greats - including some he would go on to play, but his all-time sporting idol wasn’t a tennis player - it was ’76’ himself: Federer’s idol was none other than @Jumpman23. That’s a lot of GOATS.
Federer’s other sporting idol (apart from his sometime coach Stefan Edberg, of course) was Pete Sampras. The two only ever played each other once - at Wimbledon in 2001. Sampras, the top seed, lost to 15th seeded Federer - who lost to top Briton Tim Henman.

As #COVID19 cases are found to spread, #Melbourne (city of ~5 million) tries to contain them by going into #Lockdown.
(The interview features the idea of a dedicated #Quarantine building - that would actually help, I guess)...
"People acting as if the pandemic was over was 'not the answer, it is part of the problem' ".

"The virus had leaked from postcodes already under the stay-at-home orders to other parts of #Melbourne."
(and beyond, it is feared).
Due to #Melbourne's outbreak, neighbouring South Australia is about to completely close it's borders to #Victoria.

(Nearly) no exceptions. And those essential few who are allowed in, will have to wear facemasks the entire time...

Vorpommern-Greifswald district (where rejections of #Gütersloh residents took place, yesterday)
has specific rules:
"Those who return from international risk areas (out of Germany) or whose Corona-Warning App has alerted them, need to report to authorites" Image
In fact, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's Corona-ordinance really prohibits entry of people from international risk areas AND german risk areas as well.
It's just not prominently featured on their websites.

(Overlooked that myself, hence deleted earlier tweet)… Image
People from #Gütersloh district may have to scrap all their holiday plans anyway...

An official #Lockdown is just being announced for the entire district.
(for one week, as of now)
