Alfie Hewett claimed his first Australian Open @AustralianOpen wheelchair singles title on Saturday as he beat 16-year-old Tokita Oda 6-3, 6-1.

Hewett, 25, and partner Gordon Reid on Friday also won the men's wheelchair doubles championship, them a total of 16 major victories.
After four games, the men's singles No. 1 was trailing Oda 3-1 but quickly found his groove and took control of the rest of the set, winning five straight games.
Hewett maintained his momentum in the ensuing set to capture his seventh singles Grand Slam championship.

Hewett claimed that the Melbourne final losses in 2021 and 2022 "haunted" him. "With that comes a lot more pressure as when you've not got something, you want it so badly."

According to the state government, the toad was discovered after a snake slithering across a track forced wildlife workers to stop as they were driving in Queensland's Conway National Park.
Ranger Kylee Gray said, “I reached down and grabbed the cane toad and couldn’t believe how big and heavy it was.”

She added, “A cane toad that size will eat anything it can fit into its mouth, and that includes insects, reptiles and small mammals.”
