To all involved in #crypto and not, DO NOT ignore this tweet

I was introduced to #bitcoin and #ethereum 5 years ago.
I even wrote my thesis on tokenizing real assets onto the #blockchain.

All I have to say is #Tezos! See threads below

1/ #Tezos , #xtz is a decentralized blockchain that governs itself and it establishes a true digital commonwealth.
While #ethereum, is undergoing two fork, $xtz is upgrading its protocol by using voting on the blockchain.
Currently this is the 5th successful upgrade, #Babylon
2/ #Tezos is the first production-scale multi billion dollar asset tokenization project on the #blockchain.
Currently over $5 billion of assets ready in the pipeline for Q1 to be tokenized on the #xtz blockchain.

1/ A #Boston federal court decided last month for the 1st time in US history that it's ICE's job to prove an ICE detainee is dangerous rather than forcing the detainee to prove a negative. Here's a quick report on how this Boston-only ruling is playing out in my home court.
2/ 1st, I've always found it frankly bizarre that #immigrationcourts required that *detainees* prove that they shouldn't be in ICE custody. This goes against centuries of common law, if not common sense. The govt should *always* have to justify taking someone's liberty. Always.
3/ In practice, putting the burden of proving "non-dangerousness" in #immigrationcourt required us to gather every relevant page of criminal records (including police reports), even for cases which had been dismissed/dropped, in a matter of days. Not my favorite part of the job.

In honor of the #1620project and other 19th-century fables, allow me to tell you about the legend of Mother Goose and how it is actually about Antebellum Bostonians denying their complicity in slavery.

#vastearlyamerica
In 1860, a column ran on the front page of the Boston Evening Transcript: “Many persons imagine that Mother Goose is a myth — that no such person ever existed. This is a mistake. Mother Goose was not only a veritable personage, but was born and resided many years in Boston.”
The writer, John Fleet Eliot, claimed that the first edition of Mother Goose’s Melodies was printed in Boston in 1719 by Thomas Fleet, based on the songs and stories that Fleet’s mother-in-law, Elizabeth Foster Goose, sang to Fleet’s nine children.

While we wait for the vote in the US House of Representatives on Articles of Impeachment against Donald J. Trump, I think it is worth taking some time to remember all the hard work that got us to this historic moment. A personal journey of 2019.... #ImpeachmentDay
Accountability began with the #BlueWave2018 in November 2018, where people all over the country said ENOUGH! Voters turned out in massive numbers to give a majority to the @HouseDemocrats. This was no fluke, but a MASSIVE effort by citizens all over America.
Then the real crazy started, with new offenses every day and a long gov't shutdown driven by Trump's racism and spite. It is here where Trump made his first major attempt to take away the power of the purse away from Congress with his #FakeNationalEmergency.

Excellent op-ed (tho infuriating) by Deputy Attorney General Rosen about the erosion of the rule of law by leftist District Attorneys & Prosecutors, some of whom have been making their own rules & advocating on behalf of criminals instead of on behalf of victims & the public.
The Communist District Attorney for Philadelphia decriminalized theft under $500, so if someone stole from you, you're sh*t outta luck.

Boston's DA campaigned on NOT prosecuting a list of crimes.

DA in Fairfax County won't prosecute any larcenies below $1500.
In #Boston, NO prison time whatsoever for a POS that almost beat a woman to death, and that woman now faces years of recovery.

That communist Prosecutor also proclaimed that she "represents the criminals"

If that's the case, then why are we paying for Defense Attorneys?

THREAD: Bet you can name a fictional white dwarf character but probably don’t know that one of the greatest jazz drummers of all time – who helped launch Ella Fitzgerald’s career – was a black man with dwarfism?

Oh you didn’t?

Well allow me to introduce…

(Please read & RT) 1/
“One of the great #jazz drummers and bandleaders of the 1920s and 30s”, William ‘Chick’ Henry Webb was born February 10 1909.

He grew up in #Baltimore, USA.

2/
Congenital tuberculosis of the spine caused his short stature. Chick was just over 4’0” and he had a hunched back.

He started drumming – buying his first drums with wages earned from delivering newspapers – to loosen stiffness in his joints and increase upper body strength.

Reminder: There's a second congressional hearing today on the end (and subsequent reinstatement) of #MedicalDeferredAction.

You can follow along here: oversight.house.gov/legislation/he…

Or, you can follow me for the newsy nuggets.
For background, we first reported on the end of the humanitarian policy back in August when Boston-area #immigrants began receiving denial letters from @USCIS.

wbur.org/news/2019/08/2…
@USCIS We spoke with a few people who were receiving life-saving medical treatment here in Boston. They requested #MedicalDeferredAction from USCIS, asking for visa extensions and temporary deferral of deportation to continue treatment.

Here's their story:

Do you remember? Today, October 8, marks the 5 year anniversary of the closure of Long Island Bridge in #Boston, which cut hundreds of people off from shelter and recovery services. #BostonWarm #StillLongIsland #Bospoli 1/
"when the bridge was finally deemed unsafe for travel on the afternoon of Oct. 8, the city had no emergency evacuation plan in place." It was a disaster for the city of #Boston. So many lives were uprooted. #StillLongIsland #BostonWarm 2/ www3.bostonglobe.com/metro/2014/12/…
Oh, deferred maintenance! Long Island Bridge was crumbling slowly and all of the sudden came down. "We've known for seven or eight years. As did the city. Not a surprise to a lot of folks who know about transportation," #StillLongIsland wgbh.org/news/post/form…

"We love immigrants, as long as they do it the right way!"

Trump ended #TPS for #ElSalvador on 9/9/19. Extension was granted to 1/20/20--but #TPSElSalvador holders have no proof of this beyond USCIS website, and it's causing all kinds of chaos around here. Cruelty upon cruelty.
So, so tired of hearing #MAGA nation scream at my clients to do things "the right way" as they gleefully watch this administration rip up the very few options they may have had left.
To be clear, #TPS recipients are still in lawful immigration status for the next few months... but a substantial number of them don't actually know that and are now unnecessarily terrified that they are undocumented. Also seeing them (wrongfully) lose jobs, cancel intl travel

#Boston gave white supremacist thugs obsessed w/exterminationist violence a permit for today's sad #straightprideparade & allowed every overtime-seeking cop in eastern MA to assault us

We need a @BOSCityCouncil investigation to keep this from happening again

#bospoli #defendBOS
@BOSCityCouncil The motives & associations of the organizers and their supporters (well beyond the dumbass #straightpride cover) were easily knowable. If nothing else, Milo has been a reliable Nazi stooge for years now. Why give him a platform, his fans an excuse?

buzzfeednews.com/article/joseph…
@BOSCityCouncil Events like today's are held to (1) give fascists (& fash-curious) a chance to feel comfortable in public & (2) to provoke antifa. That's it. That's all.

How is that a permit? And on one of the city's busiest weekends?

A historian has located more than 500 images taken between 1937 and 1938 by the Hungarian photographer Kati Horna who came to Spain during the Spanish Civil War to offer her services to the CNT anarchists and the Iberian Anarchist Federation (FAI) elpais.com/elpais/2019/08…
“Until now, [Kati Horna] was recognized as a photographer and artist but she was taken on by the anarchists in 1937...She never worked for the Republic. She worked for the CNT-FAI and you can’t properly understand the photos without taking her political militancy into account.”

#ADOS
@breakingbrown discussed #Baltimore as recently as last week when there was a weekend of unexplained violence. What’s happening in #Baltimore is not new to #ADOS.
In America, #ADOS are perpetual outsiders; that stops now. We’re not outsiders. Enslavement created the foundations for the economies of the western world by making cotton “King”. #Reparations is the least America can do for our ancestors’ contribution.
Let’s talk about #ADOS cities like #Atlanta where the data paints a picture of a group that has been continually barred from all means of economic advancement, agency, and autonomy. @Bloomberg

In the last few months, propelled into the spotlight by far-Right media like InfoWars, a collection of Alt-Right, neo-Nazi, and Proud Boy groups have set their sites on attacking #dragqueenstoryhour - with some groups now even pushing for doxxing parents. itsgoingdown.org/this-week-in-f…
#dragqueenstoryhour is a non-profit of over 35 chapters across the US and made up of volunteers who are trained and given background checks. The goal of the group is to create a space of tolerance and acceptance that they hope will translate into future generations making change.
One volunteer said of the group: “This year we celebrated 50 years of Pride, and knowing that there [are] so many drag queens, to many transgenders, so many lesbians, so many gay people getting killed…just for being who they are…we don’t want that to continue.”

1/ Today I'm in the #Boston USCIS office trying to--well, more on that in a minute, but I'm trying to do a thing that can only be done in person, and which would have been as easy as walking in and asking for a cashier just a few months ago. Here's how it's gone so far.
2/ USCIS used to offer "Infopass" appointments, a sort of 15-minute slot where you can sit down with an actual USCIS employee to check in on your case, clear up issues, get a stamp in your passport or emergency travel privileges, etc. You could schedule them online

I miss them
3/ Instead of scheduling these #immigration appointments online (or even walking in for emergencies and/or paying fees as I am today) you now have to schedule everything on the phone. This means at least 20 minutes of interminable flute loops before reaching a human.

Since I’m sitting on the delayed #GreenbushLine, I’ll tell a little story. I’m lucky enough that I have a great job in #Boston, one with flexibility. I can work from home if needed, and I’m not penalized for being late to work. But once upon a time, I worked in retail as (1/6)
a store manager. Over half my staff took the @MBTA to get to and from work. My stock room guy was one of these employees. He was chronically late to work, not because he was a bad employee or didn’t budget enough time, but because he took the #RedLine and it was regularly (2/6)
late. He had to log in and out each day in our POS system, and at one point my regional manager rang me up and said I had to fire him. He had too many late arrivals and was labeled an unreliable worker. I pleaded his case for him. It wasn’t his fault. Here’s a young man (3/6)

1/ My first client as a solo practitioner shared his name with the protagonist of "1984."

His crime?

Talking to a white woman.

In #Massachusetts.

In 2008.

He was convicted under a weirdass 17-century MA statute, and he was doing 6 months for it when we met.

2/ I was impressed when I first came here to learn that there are still colonial-era laws in effect in the Commonwealth.

Like this one, charged in pertinent part as Accosting & Annoying a Person of the Opposite Sex. Sounds like something you'd be put in stocks for, right?
3/ (Quick footnote:

The law was recently amended to remove reference to "the opposite sex" so that the charge is merely "accosting and annoying a person." This is because making the victim's gender an element of a crime is both highly problematic & blatantly unconstitutional.)
