@ScottMorrisonMP seems to think Aboriginal People should be able to forget the past, dust themselves off, accept defeat and get on with it. Except, of course, the past is ever present, both in the rate at which my people are jailed, and in the lingering effects of colonisation.
When you're dealing with segregation, oppression, high unemployment & low income, there are a lot of men and women who feel like they can't support their families.
Let’s end this asinine “war on drugs”. Prohibition didn’t work with alcohol, it made things worse. And doesn’t work with drugs, either.
Beating the drug epidemic is going to take a holistic approach.There is no one-fit all solution to the scourge of drugs it has to be a combination of education, good parenting,mental health services, better rehab facilities in our regions & prisons & getting tough on dealers.
Harm minimisation programs such as pill testing and safe injecting rooms & needle exchange programs won’t solve the drug epidemic but they do save lives, they do make the community safer & they minimise the harm to the drug user, their families & the community.

#Budget2021 polling: 37% approve of the way the government is handling the economy, down from 41% in March. But this is still higher than the 34% who disapprove (down from 35% in March).

It means that now instead of 63p being deducted from Universal Credit for every £1 earned, only 55p will be. Meaning claimants in work are 8p better off per £1 wages earned.
That offsets that £20 for some. Who though? How many 8p's are needed to reach £20?

It's actually £250 that is needed in wages every month, to offset the £20 cut. Or to put it another way, that's 59h work a month on the apprentice minimum wage, or 29h on the min wage over 23.

Busted: Our economy was one of the worst hit, so we are growing from a low base. The IMF says our economy is still 5% below its pre-pandemic path. & our economy is projected to lag behind all G7 countries in 2024.
Myth 2️⃣: We need to start balancing the books because we can’t afford to borrow any more.
Busted: Our debt level is high, but what matters is the cost of financing this debt. At 6% of tax receipts, the cost of servicing the debt is the second lowest it’s been since WWII.

You also need to discuss the liberal C35 disabled legislation raised by @CQualtro hours before House of Commons shut down for Summer. She, Ford and Trudeau ignored the disabled pleas for help during the pandemic and news organizations ignored our chronic systemic underfunding.
Canada is in violation of the #UNCRPD and the disability benefit was announce because the @UN_HRC is in session this week, but Trudeau has no #budget2021 $ for new benefit only money to study a new benefit for next 3 years. Leaving disabled living at least 45% below poverty line
