The biggest problem with #Edtech startups like #Byju's and #Vedantu is they focus on tech rather than teaching !
Teachers >> Tech Thread 🧵
Thankfully, they are gradually recognising the importance of the human touch, which is why so many of them have started adding teachers ( AKA coaches and mentors ) to their online training programs .
The problem is that most of the " teachers " employed by these EduTech startups are treated as widgets , who are trained to do their job in a mechanical , detached fashion , in order to earn their salary , rather than because they care about their students !

This is slowly becoming like a bubble. It will break once #Byju goes public in India. This company is trying to grow in an inorganic manner. Its revenue was ₹20.16 crores in FY19. For a company that's valued in $Billions, the revenue is just a trickle.
#Byju claims that they have added 13.5 million customers but they have not provided the split of paid accounts vs free accounts. As per Fintrackr, its total expenses had grown 2.6X from Rs 537.4 crore in FY18 to Rs 1,376.5 crore in FY19.
#Byjus advertising and promotion accounted for about 1/3rd of its expenses. They have not provided any expenses/revenue details on their paid courses. Any guesses as to where their primary revenue comes from ??

It's from the sale of Tablets and course materials.

WTF is wrong with @BYJUS?

I got a call from one of my Relative, The Sales guy pitched her wife to get the kid enrolled for some 'Home Learning Plan'

She said the boy is getting a ₹30k scholarship so they need to pay only ₹5000 in Bank and ₹25k in EMIs.

#EdTech Thread ⬇️
He said this scholarship is only valid till tomorrow and you need to pay the fee by today. The Tablet will be delivered within 7 days and if you aren't happy you can return it within 15 days.

So here the game begins - They asked for

Aadhar Card
PAN Card
Bank Passbook Copy
They want PAN Card for Loan/CIBIL related inquiries, Bank Details for EMI Deductions, and Aadhar Card for signing the eNACH.

Finally, ask the customer for Aadhar OTP and sign the auto-debit on the customer's behalf. Parents wouldn’t even realize how their PAN/Aadhar got used.

Yesterday I wanted to buy a #OnePlus 8Pro but I stopped because it's made in #China. So I changed my opinion and searched for #iPhone, sadly 80% of iPhones are made in China☹️ Finally I decided to open #Flipkart to search for other mobiles but flipkart is funded by Chinese 🤘👇
I was extremely disappointed and thought of eating some delicious food 🍴🍕🍔 for that I opened #Zomato and #Swiggy irony is that both are funded by Chinese firms. Finally I decided to order some snacks from #Bigbasket, this is also funded by china. 😭🥵👇
I was vexed and wanted to go to restaurant and eat 🍝 . To go there, I tried booking #Ola and cancelled because China funded Ola too. I wanted to compromise for food but Ola driver was accepting ride only if I pay through #Paytm but again China has made investment in Paytm. 👇
