Ready for the #CFB Analytics Spring Top 40? Here we go. This Power Ranking is derived from a model which utilizes full Coach Staff efficiency metrics, roster talent, & returning production among other metrics. No opinion here, I just regurgitate the numbers. #NoOpinionJustNumbers
40 #Kentucky #BBN #SEC Power Rating: 61.726
Returning Production for the Wildcats may be a problem. At 39.72%, it puts them at 113th in the country. The schedule is manageable tho drawing Ole Miss & Miss State out the West. #CFB
39 #Washington #PurpleReign #Pac12
Power Rating: 62.271
Really like the new coaching staff in Seattle. Should put them in a better position to win. Roster talent purge from the prev regime will have an early effect (last 2 classes were 39th, 86th) but the ship has been righted.

Protest happening right now at @BYU #utpol

The event, which invites people of the same gender to express affection on campus grounds, was organized by LGBTQ+ students and allies taking aim at the college’s “homophobic policies.”
“This Valentines Day we will flood campus with queer joy” the protest’s flyer, which began circulating a few days ago on social media, read.

In response, some students showed rainbow flair on their backpacks and carried yellow flowers. The more daring ones held hands.
In 2020, the college relaxed its persecution of “homosexual behavior,” but officials reiterated that “Same-sex romantic behavior cannot lead to eternal marriage and is therefore not compatible with the principles in the honor code.”

Alright #CFBPlayoff viewers. Lets go through this week's poll. Once again, it was, as it always has been, predictable. The model was off an average of 1 spot per team for the entire Top 25 poll this week. So let's take a look at some resumes shall we? #CFB 🧵
If you took a peak at this projection yesterday, you were prepared for alot of what you saw last night. The resumes are all laid out very similarly to the way the Playoff Committee views them. #ThereIsNoEyeTest

25 #HailState 6-4
SOS: 29, QW: 4, T25W: 2, GC: 3.3

Despite the horrible game control at 3.3, MSU snuck its way into the poll. They modeled at 26 so this isn't all that surprising. They are riding their good SOS, 4 QWs, and 2 T25Ws at this point. No surprise.

Ok, lets talk #CFBPlayoff Poll. Time is limited this morning so lets just run through the Top 15. For those of you who signed up as a patron (thank you) or those who have followed long; you know the drill. There is no eye test. The committee uses a well defined process. 🧵
If you read this on Monday, last night was all old news and you already knew what to expect. If you like the suspense of the four letter network's reveal show be warned. #SpoilerAlert

15 #BYU
SOS: 44, QW: 5, T25W: 0, GC: 4.9

#BYU modeled at 17, so no surprise here. Good SOS, Tied for the most QWs in the poll. Game Control is low, but with a SOS in the Top 50, they'll get a pass. No surprise at 15.

Sorry to those that follow me for snarky political and real estate and soccer takes. The following is a serious thread about #BYU and #MormonStuff and our #LGBTQ friends and family
I have had some feedback about my comments on Elder Holland’s talk and think it appropriate to further elaborate.
I have also seen my more conservative friends stating that what Holland said was not being taken with the spirit of love it was intended.

Today we’d like to bring you our preliminary review of yesterday’s BYU’s Race, Equity, and Belonging Committee report. Original at race.byu.edu/00000177-d543-…. Thread.

The report was compiled at the request of BYU President Worthen. The Committee is made of nine faculty members from administration and the law, sociology, athletics, and social sciences departments. Religion, STEM, and general education were not represented.
Only one of them, Michalyn Steele, appeared on our list of BYU professors to avoid. We apologize for the omissions.

Ok. Let's recap of the mandates and orders Governor Herbert issued tonight:

1. No hosting social gatherings with friends in your homes. However, you are still free to meet up with them and catch the virus at bars, restaurants, and gyms. 1/7 #utpol #utah
2. A state-wide #maskmandate has been ordered. I tried to convince the governor that the mandate specifically mention wearing the mask up and over the nose, but that was a (nose) bridge too far. 2/7 #utpol #COVID19 #utah
3. Certain individuals, and we won't mention anyone by name, can no longer organize dance parties. We're really, really serious this time. Don't be... young and dumb. 3/7 #utpol #BYU #uvu #young #dumb

Here’s some real talk for members of The #ChurchofJesusChrist of Latter-day Saints that you’re not likely to hear from very many people.

The hot button issue of our time (in the Church) is very clearly, issues raised involving people who identify as LGBT.
I know of very few members of the Church who HAVEN’T been deeply and personally affected by the complexities of these issues.

Difficult, life changing decisions have been made by many as members (Straight and LGBT alike) personally navigate their individual situations.
In 1995 the Church issued The Family: A Proclamation to the World which concisely, definitively and specifically speaks to the doctrine of God regarding marriage, gender, sexuality, and family, ALL of which can be backed by scripture and prophetic teachings.

FACT: Suicide is the number one cause of death of all #Utah youth; this is not the case nationally. More alarming, the teen suicide rate in Utah has doubled since 2011. #LGBT #UTpol #LDS #Mormon #BYU
Another Fact: Teen suicide is lower when there is an #LGBTQ supportive environment. #Utah is notorious for its lack of support for and acceptance of the #LGBT community. #LDS #Mormon #UTpol #BYU
Relatedly, studies show that in areas where homosexuality is tolerated, mental health outcomes for #LGBTQ are the same as non-LGBTQ people. Elevated risk of suicide correlates w/ elevated risk of mental illness that is prevalent among LGBTs living in areas hostile to them.
