Last week, we lost @EdinburghAFT member Rosa Pacheco to Covid after 35 years on the job. Today, we visited her students @SanCarlosElms to honor her, and all the lives lost during the pandemic.

With the help of @FirstBook we donated 250 books, backpacks, and masks to her school.
As part of #Back2School, we visited @PSJA_LBJ_MS where we donated another 250 books. Students are so excited to be in the classroom and it shows! Thank you to @drjlarredondo and all of the @PSJAISD community for welcoming us with open arms.
#Back2School continues with a visit to @fieldsfalcons with @drgonzalez8 and @mstrdla of @McAllenISD. 60% of students at Fields are Bilingual and 94% are economically disadvantaged.

I continued our #Back2School tour in Scranton today. @sftlocal1147 organized two different community events.
At the first event, we gave out books and school supplies, children had face painting and games. The joy for #BAck2School was clear.
I especially loved that both events had vaccine clinics. Free vaccines and information on the vaccines for parents and eligible students. #VaccinesAreSafe

With the Delta variant spreading, we must do everything possible to keep students, educators & communities safe. Thank you @SquawkCNBC for having me on today to talk about #Back2School.
Safety needs to be the North Star of our #Back2School plans, and we should be working with employers on vaccine policies in the workplace, so workers have a voice in that decision making.
Kids under 12 can't get vaccines yet, and the Delta variant is very transmissible. We need to be in school with students, but we need to be safe. The safest way to do that is with vaccines, and the second safest way is with masking.
