Top IAF officials have told earlier that Black Box of crashed Mi-17 V-5 helicopter had gone missing, probably stolen by the villagers. But the villagers have claimed that IAF personnel themselves took the Black Box from them. So who stole it? Why? #Balakot gginews.in/iaf-mi-17-cras…
The Black Box is at the heart of controversy involving CoI looking into various factors that caused Mi-17 crash – important among which is Israeli Spyder short-range surface-to-air missile that hit the chopper. Coincidentally Black Box is still missing.
gginews.in/iaf-mi-17-cras…
Role of Israeli weapons has also come under question in 2 other cases except Mi-17. One where it is found that the indigenous Made-in-India smart SAAW missiles of the DRDO were rejected to replace Israeli made Spice 2000 missiles for #Balakot airstrikes. gginews.in/balakot-airstr…

#OpSwiftRetort air strikes - plausible scenarios:

1. PAF intended to strike Indian targets with aim to cause damage but missed due to inherent system limitation, poor execution or timely counter by IAF

2. Action was only to signal capability (stated reason)

3. Both

#Balakot
Analysis is complicated due to:

1. High disinformation level by Pak military establishment. Not just in present scenario but historically as well.

2. No official comment by #IndianArmy or #IndianAirForce on the efficacy of the strikes.

3. No anecdotes from history

#Balakot
@joe_sameer goes with scenario #1 basis high variation in targeting error. But then 2 different types of weapons and platforms were employed and both are relatively unknown as far as efficacy is concerned. Neither is PAF known for air strikes.

The #UAE diplomacy with #NewDelhi is a step forward in helping end #India-#Iran strategic partnership. If successful, this will help #Pakistan interests that suffered due to Indian-Iranian partnership in #Afghanistan & #Balochistan. /1

@AQpk
The #UAE is likely hoping to permanently end #India's reliance on #Iran oil imports, and shift its oil contracts to Arab Gulf suppliers. #AbuDhabi is likely also interested in seeing India end its role in #Chabahar port, which has also created problems for #Pakistan and #China.
While helping #Pakistan economically & diplomatically (quiet diplomacy to bring the #US & #Islamabad closer), the #UAE has walked a fine balance to court #India in the hope of encouraging an #Indian shift away from #Iran.

#ImranKhan must hv recvd report that #INSArihant has disappeared from its home base n not getting tracked as it is hibernating in operational mode! So the scary #AzadKashmir vomiting!
No future left for IK n GenB! Surrender Surrender Surrender!
#ScaredGHQ
Reason behind Skardu deployment of PAF is to ensure at least few machines remain unharmed if IAF takes initiative n bombs Pakistan airbases! To avert such mishap its deterent move. But #Brahmos hv already set its goal n electricity infra wd b finished in 1st few hrs.
#ScaredGHQ
#Balakot references by IK today r showing confusion in #PakistanArmy ldrshp. Also pointing towards its psychological impact. What do HE mean by more fearful attacks than earlier? Everyone knows Indians won't use IAF again! Then?
Raining fire from skies? But how?

1n Wednesday morning surprise: here’s a topographic time series of #Balakot. What does it show you? Massive construction activity & a huge dust cloud indicating construction after the date of the strikes (idea courtesy @beepdelete & @Obs_IL images @CopernicusEU @sentinel_hub )
2n Now match this with the image below of the 3 strike points. And see how each one of them develop in the time series. Especially contrast aim point 3 and the main madrasah building
3n now again watch a B&W image from a different source confirming the same pattern. You can draw one of two conclusions. Either the bomb blast effects lasted a whole week, OR that there was massive construction activity at the Madrasah post strike to cover up. #balakotairstrikes

Though #Pakistan was created on religious line, #Jinnah was most liberal Muslim who never wanted #Pakistan a religious firm!
Till 1977 , Religion was just a personal choice in #Pakistan , General #Zia not only pushed religion but also took country decades backward !
#SZAB
Zia knew he had zero support from People hence he decided to take support from Mullahs and he ensured that hardcore Islam penetrate each institution in #Pakistan including #Army & #ISI !
#Soviet invaded #Afghanistan in 1979, #Zia used this opportunity to the fullest .
#US wanted to work on Proxy war, Zia got excellent platform to build these Proxies in Madrassa's of Pakistan.

Huge win for #India's scientists and technologists at DRDO. Successful anti-satellite (ASAT) missile system test. A low earth orbit satellite is targeted and destroyed. After #US, #Russia and #China, India fourth country to acquire this space capability. #MissionShakti
A quantum leap forward into the 21st century. Space is the future and #India is there. #MissionShakti is no less tectonic than #OperationShakti -- proud to be Indian.
Those asking whether #MissionShakti merited address to the nation by PM @narendramodi : Elections come and go, national achievements are forever. This is a big day for #India , a very big day.

Here comes more info by @manupubby on the #MilitaryIndustrialComplex arising out of #Balakot

Swedish AWACS and South African Denel H4 missiles used by Pakistan.
2/2
In the aftermath of #AirStrikes (30 days) the narrative should have been discussions on #Nuclear or #Peace

However, the narrative is a mass of names of weapons used by India and Pakistan and names of defence companies.

Almost everyone has given his/her take. Even though late, let me try to distill my thoughts on what has happened in #Balakot and thereafter. Let me begin by saying that today's actions on the LoC by PAF doesn't restore deterrence for Pakistan. 1/n
What happened in #Balakot and what happened at LoC today are qualitatively very different. The former was an airstrike on a terror camp inside KPK. The latter was an action right across LoC resulting in no damage. Luckily for Gen Bajwa, the Mig21 fell on Pakistani side, 2/n
and the PAF plane that went down also fell on Pakistani side. Now Gen Bajwa has an IAF pilot to parade around. This repairs his domestic image that had been jolted by the IAF airstrikes. On the other hand, the optics are not good for Modi. 3/n

Ok folks, carrying on from this thread of yesterday morning, in light of the events of this day. My thoughts are still a bit unstructured, so pl bear with me.
2
First and foremost, the point raised in this tweet from nearly four years ago has now been answered. Whether it develops into a war, or a 'near war' is to be seen now
3
I guess that the Brown Pants have taken a call to retaliate, assuming that the aftermath of an overt retaliation will be easier to manage than the yahoos within their own country

From sources on other side - this appears to be Balakot in Manshera district of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Area has been known to have jihadi training camps since era of Zia-ul-Haq
Jaish-e-Mohammed too has a presence, including camps, in Balakot area. Local reports of aircraft dropping bombs in area early this morning.
Also confirmed from sources on Indian side - this was #Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The first Airstrike by US against "terrorists" in Afghanistan after 9/11 began on 7 Oct 2001. Nearly 2 decades later, US is now talking to "Taliban" for a "deal". This is how effective airstrikes are against "terrorists". 1/n
WRT India's airstrike on "terrorist camps" in Pakistan, how degrading would that be to the terror networks in reality? Very little. You can't destroy much that cannot be replaced quickly. Would that work as a deterrent? No. 2/n
India's airstrike against terrorist camps in Pakistan is more for optics and electoral posturing by Modi-Doval & company. Like the last "surgical Strike" could not prevent more terror attacks on India, neither would this. 3/n

Unclear what “violated” means precisely here—but this also suggests multiple aircraft.
Follow-up tweet clarifies things a bit. We can litigate details later, but big picture right now per ISPR is IAF fighters crossed LoC in the early morning—before sunrise—and released some payload that Pakistan is saying hit nothing important in particular.
Biggest question I have is what “near” Balakot means and what payload specifically. Balakot is not in Azad Kashmir—it’s in KP.
