💣TurkeyGate💣

What do money laundering, evading Iran Sanctions/Nuke the Nuke Deal, Trump, Flynn, Giuliani, Mukasey, Brian Ballard (lobbying), Erdogan, Zarrab, MbS, Khoshoggi, Pastor Brunson, Syria, the Kurds & Lindsey Graham have in common?

Let’s have a look shall we?
📌Note: Lindsey Graham dishes on Trump in hoax calls with Russians proved quite illuminating revealing his private vs public face on some of this matters regarding Turkey.

politico.com/news/2019/10/1…
📌The substance of Graham’s convo w/ Stolyarov, who was posing as Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, is newly relevant in light of the Graham’s push for sanctions on Turkey as punishment for their offensive against the Kurds in northern Syria. politico.com/news/2019/10/1…

Citizens’ Rights Myth Buster

The UK Govt, like @WalkerWorcester here, and UK press in general keep on repeating that the #citizensrights of the EU citizens in the UK have been guaranteed even in case of a #NoDealBrexit.

This myth buster will look these claims in more detail.
Myth 1: #citizensrights in case of no-deal are guaranteed
@Stuart_McDonald busting this myth here: “a unilateral promise from the Prime Minister can be here today & gone tomorrow. [...] it doesn't bind her successors [...] their rights can be repealed at a blink of an eye"
Myth 2: It is a registration process
Often repeated in the press that Settled Status is a registration process:
@Dr_PhilippaW busting this myth: “There should not be an application. Even a registration would suggest something different. An application implies you can be refused"

While the UK Govt refuses to secure the #citizensrights of EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope through a bilateral ring-fencing agreement with the EU for the case of #NoDealBrexit they just showed that they are willing to do so with Switzerland.
europestreet.news/uk-switzerland…
The agreement with Switzerland does not only cover indefinite residence rights but also social security coordination, sevices provided & recognition of qualifications - things at risk for EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope in case of no-deal Brexit.
ejpd.admin.ch/ejpd/en/home/a…
We are asking @DExEUgov & @Number10gov why is ring-fencing #citizensrights possible with Switzerland when you are refusing so hard to do so for the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK & 1.2m @BritishInEurope with the EU? People's lives are still used as #BargainingChip.

1/ Shadow Brexit minister @PaulBlomfieldMP & Shadow Immigration minister @Afzal4Gorton wrote to @carolinenokes & @WalkerWorcester yesterday to raise major concerns over the Govt approach on #citizensrights of EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope in case of no-deal Brexit.
2/ the Labour MPs raise issues on:
▪️Scope
▪️How to distinguish between 2 sets of EU citizens post March 29th
▪️Deadline for Settled Status applications
▪️Appeal rights
▪️Family reunion rights
▪️The impact of no deal for the 1.2m @BritishInEurope
3/ on scope (who will be protected) the Labour MPs question whether the no-deal guarantee includes everyone the Govt promised to protect above and beyond the Withdrawal Agreement as previously indicated.

1/ They simply can't stop lying

In a letter to a constituent @Conservatives MP Gareth Johnson writes: "[...]when people voted to leave the EU they [...] understood the impact this would have on British citizen elsewhere in the EU as well as EU citizens."

This is a lie.
2/ During the Brexit referendum campaign @BorisJohnson, @michaelgove, @patel4witham & @GiselaStuart said that EU citizens will be treated no less favourably than they are at present.

This turned out to be a lie.

3/ During the Brexit referendum campaign @BorisJohnson said that the Vienna Convention protects the rights of the @BritishInEurope in France and elsewhere in EU.

Again, this turned out to be a lie.

1. Dear @carolinenokes MP and @10DowningStreet.
I started to work in the UK (for @fusionenergy) on the 14/04/2014 as Senior Electrical Designer, I am now an Electrical systems design engineer.
A "#HighSkilled migrant" as they say, but not eligible to the #SettledStatus. [THREAD]
2. I will have my 5 eligible years on the 14/04/2019.
Or 16 days after #BrexitDay.
Maybe it is worth to mention that I arrived on the 01/12/2013. So I have actually my 5 years, but I have no proof.
I was joining an ex-partner to look for work in the UK, my name was not on bills.
3. Yesterday, like other fellow @The3Million, I read the following article.
"Employers will be expected to check whether EU nationals have the right to work in the UK if there is a #NoDeal #Brexit, even though it will be almost impossible to assess this".

I have asked my MP @AnnaMcMorrin to take the pledge and support the right of #The5Million to retain their current #citizensrights after Brexit.

Have you?

Ask your own MP here:
the3million.sentientleaf.com
Do you think I am the only one?

If each member of #The5Million who have been #inLimbo for 858 days now donated a single grain of rice, at 1 second for each grain.

We would be a large pile of 100 kg of rice.

After two months.

1/ UK is going to guarantee #citizensrights of EU citizens in the UK without the EU, one sided - unilaterally - in case of no deal Brexit leaked papers show. Claiming the moral high ground over the EU.
Yet again, too late, too little. itv.com/news/2018-08-1…
2/ The time for unilateral guarantees and claiming the moral high ground passed a long time ago though. Together with the @BritishInEurope we pleaded with the UK Govt to take that moral high ground for months after the referendum. It fell on deaf ears.
theguardian.com/politics/2016/…
3/ instead UK Govt reduced EU citizens in the UK & the @BritishInEurope down to Brexit negotiation capital. Made us a #BargainingChip. Unilateral guarantee would have been the right until triggering Article 50. It would have created much needed goodwill.

1/ The EU have published their general preparedness note for no deal #Brexit. And it looks very bleak on the #citizensrights for the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK and 1.2m @BritishInEurope.
ec.europa.eu/info/sites/inf…
2/in case of no deal EU confirms that what has been agreed so far on #citizensrights in the Withdrawal Agreement will be null and void. No ifs, no buts. We'd move from #BargainingChip to collateral damage.
3/ EU is urging citizens to be prepared for no deal Brexit by March 2019. It also tasks embassies & consulates to inform their citizens. Concerned? We are. Maybe a good time to get into contact with your embassy to find out more. /end
