The English word 'India' comes from Greek Ἰνδία.
Greek called the land beyond the Indus (Ἰνδός) River, Indía.
Greek called Indians Ἰνδός Indos.
Persians called Indians Hinduš, people beyond river Sindhu.
Greek used the word Indian around 400 BCE, 1600 years before Marco Polo.
Ceylon is an ancient word.
5th-century epic Mahāvaṃsa narrates Emperor Ashoka's mission to Sri Lanka.
It noted Sri Lanka as Sinhala Dvipa.
Greek referred to Sinhala Dvipa as Sielen Diva.
Greek Sielen became Latin Seelan, & English Ceylon.
Ceylon predates Marco Polo by centuries.
