Our Parents faced humiliation, discrimination and marginalization in the hands of the #NigerianState.

I wouldn’t want to blame them for not communicating their plights to us, their children. Perhaps they preferred us to Journey through life in Nigeria with Open hearts and 1/3
without any form of prejudice.

This came with its own shortfalls as it left us more Vulnerable bcos as we interacted with open minds and childlike hearts, Institutionalized hatred was consolidated against us, the #IGBO.

Breaking loose from the systemic subjugation has become
one Herculean task that we MUST accomplish regardless of the price we pay.

As we do, We must intentionally transfer our story ~ the truth, to our children.

The Profiling, the pogroms,
massacres, Arson, disenfranchisement, arbitrary arrests, tortures, disappearances etc.

On the 50th anniversary of the end of the Biafran war, the world’s worst humanitarian crisis in the late 1960s, declassified British files show that Harold Wilson’s government secretly armed and backed Nigeria’s aggression against the secessionist region.
The then Labour government secretly provided large quantities of arms to the Nigerian federal government which, by early 1970, had crushed an attempt by the country’s eastern region of #Biafra to gain independence, which it had declared in May 1967.
During the three years of war, up to three million people died, as #Nigeria enforced a blockade on Biafra, causing widespread starvation amid considerable international opposition to the conflict.

“The arrest of MNK is a Western conspiracy. It was well orchestrated by the UK; they provided information & strategy that led to his arrest. They didn’t want it to happen on their soil to avoid controversy…No African should be blinded or deceived by Western citizenship. Not
American citizenship. Not British citizenship. The British government handed MNK over to the Nigerian government because the Nigerian mineral resources are worth more to the than Kanu. British’ interests in the Nigerian Oil industry is one thing Britain will NEVER jeopardize, let
alone compromise. Western billionaires, stocks, and companies own oil blocks in Nigeria. If Britain sided with Kanu/#IPOB, the Nigerian government will revoke their oil licenses immediately, & the Brits don’t feel like going to war against their best interests. The only reason

This is what happens when you wait for a messiah instead of everyone doing the collective work: #ESN #BIAFRA #IPOB #IGBO needs to:

1) Get Igbo technicians to massively fund & install alarm security systems for every Igbo man, woman, & child esp. for #ESN
2. Get Igbo millionaires that align w/#BIAFRA to buy the land below Abia State (for future underground waterway irrigation, etc)

3) Igbo linguistic teachers, professionals, etc ABROAD & at home need to come together to develop curriculums that detail our Igbo culture, history, &
script according to each of our respective Igbo regions (Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, & even the natural borders that extend pre-colonization)

4) Review the Ahiara Declaration & outreach to the previous sovereign nations that supported Biafra (Haiti, Zambia, etc)

Who is Akpan Utuk?

In 1967, with the start of the War Utuk, a native of Ibibio, joined the Biafran Army and quickly rose in ranks. Utuk is said to have fought at most of the large-scale battles during the war.
When Utuk was made colonel he was put into command of the Biafran 16th Division to defend the city of Owerri from the oncoming Nigerian Army. When General Benjamin Adekunle decided to invade Aba instead of Owerri, he was pleased and decided to stay back
and let Major Timothy Onwuatuegwu handle the Nigerians. After separate battle at Aba and Umuahia Utuk did not expect the Nigerian Army to arrive. On September 17, 1968 General Benjamin Adekunle attacked Owerri.

MERCENARIES AND THE ULI AIRSTRIP

THE AIRLIFT TO BIAFRA

The Uli Airstrip was the most important link between Biafra and the outside world during the Nigerian civil war. Most of the major airfields in Biafra were captured by government forces early in the war.
Had the Nigerian government destroyed the Uli Airstrip, the war and the humanitarian catastrophe that accompanied it probably would have ended very quickly. Unfortunately, the government was dependent on mercenary pilots who were skilled enough to target the airport at night.
When mercenaries working for the government refused to destroy the airport, Biafra was able to continue its resistance (De St. Jorre 1972, 318).

Why were the mercenary pilots unwilling to strike an obvious military target? There are two basic reasons.

BUHARI — THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO NIGERIA?

Yes! He might as well be.

It took the second coming of Muhammadu Buhari to reveal the true state of Nigeria - a country too divided, too polarised & too different that it will never become a nation

A THREAD
Hitherto, the Fulani elites had hidden under a veneer of unity & cooperation, constantly deploying soft power, veiled threats & violent outbursts against other Nigerians in order to maintain their perch on power and skewed advantage over the resources of Nigeria.
It took a Buhari to bring to clarity the fact that the Fulani elites believe that they own Nigeria and the rest of us ought to be servants or slaves.

This clarity of the true nature of Nigeria will force Nigeria to confront herself.

Prologue:
Existence of Nigeria as a singular entity has been fraught with a myriad of delicate fault lines since her amalgamation in 1914.
Each side managed their differences for more than half a century - albeit under watchful eyes of Britain’s political games.
But 1960, independence and the distribution of power along regional lines created a fertile ground for age-long resentment to fester.
The 1966 coup and the July counter-coup unearthed this bag of aggressive, power-hungry worms, so much that for the first time since 1914, the...
unity of Nigeria became subject to public debate and the power plays of the uniformed men who now held power.
The North on one side was certain that the Easterners had their eyes set on dominating everything - as Sir Ahmadu Bello, Premier of the Northern Region, so eloquently...

Biafra: The Horrors of War, A Review.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
© George Santayana (1863 – 1952).

Let’s take you on a journey down memory lane. Imagine a youngster, born in Kano but whose parents are from the Eastern part of the country.
Brought up as a Northern Nigerian kid, he had come to regard Kano as his home. His parents lived and worked in Kano. He started school in Kano and made a lot of friends there. For these young happy Nigerian kids, Kano was home.
They spoke fluent Hausa and there was no difference between them and any Kano ‘indigene’. Our subject would join his parents to visit their village, Awka, once in a year during the Yuletide and return to Kano as soon as the ceremonies were over.

Biafra’s forgotten children.

The claim that Gabon’s president Ali Bongo is actually Nigerian has shone a spotlight on a subject not many were aware of, that of the children airlifted out of Biafra, and Nigeria, some never to be reunited with their families. Now they are adults.
In his latest book titled Nouvelle Affaires Africaine (New African Affairs), French writer Pierre Péan claims that Gabonese president, Ali Bongo is not actually from Gabon and that he is of Nigerian heritage. He claims that Ali Bongo was adopted from the secessionist state...

Pierre Péan’s charge led Ali Bongo’s opposition to demand a DNA test from the president. Péan also claims that Bongo presented a forged birth...

Why Deepening Tension, Aggravating Insecurity May Trigger Insurgency In South-East Nigeria

It is difficult to miss the signs. Ominous signals continue to dog the path of peace in communities across the Southeast states of Nigeria.

THREAD humangle.ng/why-deepening-…
A strange mix of events is tugging violently at the fabrics of peace across the zone. And the elements at play appear determined to unravel an already fragile situation. It is akin to putting life flame on dry gunpowder.
There is ample evidence that the overstretched tension in the relationship between security agencies and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, (IPOB), a group clamouring for an independent state of Biafra out of Nigeria, is already boiling over.

BERNARD KOUCHNER’S MEDECINS SAN FRONTIERES: BORN OF BIAFRA

During the Nigerian Civil War of 1967 to 1970, the Nigerian military blocked the entire Biafra Territory to prevent food and medical supplies from coming in. At this time, France was one of the only
major countries supportive of the Biafrans (the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union and the United States were supporting the Nigerian government), and the conditions within the blockade were unknown to the world.
A number of French doctors volunteered with the French Red Cross to
work in hospitals and feeding centres in besieged Biafra. One of those doctors was Bernard Kouchner.

After entering the country, these volunteer doctors in addition to Biafran health workers and hospitals, were subjected to attacks by the Nigerian army, and witnessed civilians

Today as we celebrate #BiafraHeroesDay2020, we give honour to whom honour is due.

We say thank you & God bless you to all individuals and groups who contributed in one way or another in making 30th May of every year the date for #BiafraRemembranceDay.
@MaziNnamdiKanu & #IPOB popularised & energized #BiafraHeroesDay.

The organisation that first proposed #BiafraHeroesDay from the earliest available references I could find is a group known as the BIAFRA FOUNDATION based in the USA in the year 2002.
It must be admitted that Chief Ralph Uwazurike had already started the Movement For The Actualisation Of Biafra (MASSOB) in 1999 in Ijesha, Lagos.

The first available record of #BiafraHeroesDay event held in Nigeria was organised by Chief Ralph Uwazurike led MASSOB in 2004.

53 years ago today, the military governor of the Eastern Region of #Nigeria, Colonel Emeka Ojukwu, declared the region as the independent Republic of #Biafra.

Most of the existing history will tell you that he took this action unilaterally, but that is incorrect.
4 days earlier, a consultative assembly made up of people in the 11 provinces of the Eastern region had by a majority voted to break away from #Nigeria following @NigeriaGov's reneging on the Aburi Accord of 5/1/1967, and the creation of 3 states out of the East on 5/5/1967.

Igboland Is Not Landlocked

A THREAD by #AloyEjimakor

It’s often said that LIES told many times may - in the course of time - begin to pass for the truth. One of such is this terrible LIE told since end of the Civil War that Igboland is LANDLOCKED or has no access to sea. 1/26
The purpose of this essay, therefore, is to debunk this lie with some simple historical and topographical evidence that are even in plain view, if you care to dig or do some physical explorations of your own. 2/26
Suffice it to say that it is a profound tragedy that entire generations of the immediate post-War Igbos never bordered to check but seemingly accepted this brazen institutional falsehood, largely intended to taunt the Igbo & put them down. 3/26

IGBO LEADERSHIP

At this point, I need to address the issue of the often seriously misunderstood topic of Igbo Leadership.

This is triggered by the disrespectful & condescending tweet by @AbdulMahmud01 that the Igbo have traders but not leaders.

#IgboLeadership

A THREAD
I'll forgive @AbdulMahmud01 with whom I often interact on Twitter & who I have tremendous respect for his advocacy for human & civil rights in Nigeria.

#IgboLeadership
I will also like to state that he's not alone in this misunderstanding. So many Igbo sons & daughters are equally guilty of this unfortunate & ill informed understanding of Igbo world view about Political Leadership.

IGBO & IGBO DENIERS

Igbo Bụ Igbo (Igbo is Igbo) But We Have Igbo Deniers

The grandfather & one of the earliest known #IgboDeniers is the acclaimed Ikwerre Writer from Aluu – Elechi Amadi (He schooled in Yoruba land & was a Nigerian soldier during the war).
He went to the Oputa Panel in 2004 & told the whole world that Ikwerre is not Igbo.

Later day Igbo Denying apostles include a certain Henry Okelue (@4eyedmonk) who is only known on Twitter where he claims that Anioma or Delta Igbo are not Igbo.

#IgboDeniers
#Ozoemena
The question is this. If Igbo bụ Igbo, what is the motivation of these #IgboDeniers? The simple chief answer is this. “Failure is an orphan”.

@EricHolder has asked an important question:

#When was #America #ever #great?

I realize that there is a nearly unavoidable tendency to snort and spew one's coffee when they hear or read his question for the first time. But, honestly, isn't it worth the exercise to answer it?
So, @EricHolder, I'm going to do just that, and I'm going to ask my ragtag bag of followers and detractors to contribute as well.

I'm going to offer my evidence of moments of American greatness. And I'm going to ask those that read this thread to do the same.
But wait!

There's more!

I'm going to ask my detractors and antagonists (are you seeing this @fedupaton) to contribute as well, and will welcome from them both moments of greatness and moments of shame.

Just read Philip Efiong's small work, Integration: True or False.

Efiong was a General in the #Biafra army & was second to Ojukwu in Biafra's leadership hierarchy.

I found certain information in the work revealing, like Gowon's reply to Efiong's memo to him.

[Thread]
After Biafra’s ‘surrender’, Efiong requested that undamaged airports in #Biafra be used for daylight & night flights for bringing in food & other supplies into Biafra.

He made d request to Gowon bc the humanitarian condition during d tail end of the war & after was catastrophic.
Immediately after the #Biafra - #Nigeria civil war, people were dyeing of hunger and the was a general lack of medical supplies.

But Gowon says no to Efiong's request that undamaged airports in Biafra be used for relief flights. A way of saying ‘If you are dyeing die'.
