I know I know a bit of a a set up there as I don't need @michaelmina_lab to actually respond since I have been reading his (and many others) Tweets about rapid testing for months. And I got a few #BinaxNow kits just in case they could be useful at some point for me or family.

The short version: False positives are exceedingly rare. If you get a positive test, take it seriously. Several studies show that false negatives have low viral loads & are far less likely to be contagious. Rapid antigen testing catches the vast majority of contagious cases. 2/10
BinaxNow can be used to test both adults and children aged 2+ regardless of symptoms. Far right panel shows 100% sensitivity for the highest viral load (low Ct) cases for both adults and children regardless of symptoms. 3/10

Antigen tests with their "high specificity" can be of great use for healthcare workers to identify "infectious individuals who can spread the disease". Rapid & cheap they are much more user friendly as the preferred Point-Of-Care tests.
