PART 40 (Finale) #BiographyOfRasul

Completion of His Blessings (s)

I begin this chapter with the statement of Sh. Yusuf Nabahani (r) in Anwarul Muhammadiyya: "had death been Makruh, it would not have touched the Prophet (s)".

1/15
If this world was to be permanent to anyone, it would have been Rasulullah (s).

On his last day, whilst the Muslims were performing Fajr lead by Sayyidna Abubakar (r), the Prophet (s) drew curtains of Nana 'Aishah's room, looked at them and smiled cheerfully.

2/15
Understand, esteemed reader, that he was so handsome, he was dripping light, looking young (like in his 40s); the companions were so glad to see his face that they almost enraptured in their prayers. He made a gesture that they should continue their prayers & went inside.

Of His Final Tributes (s)

The Prophet (s) was sick for a total of 13/14 days starting from end of Safar, year 11 AH. He used to pray in the Masjid until his sickness prevented him from doing so.

1/14
Despite being very ill, he was conveyed to the Masjid by Fadl bn Abbas & Ali bn Abi Taalib.

Whenever he couldn't make it to the Masjid, he used to instruct his friend, Abubakar to lead the prayers.

On that Thursday, he went to the Masjid & mounted on his pulpit.

2/14
He gave a sermon inter alia:

"O people! The time has arrived when I should leave you. If I have made a promise with anyone I am prepared to fulfil it, and if I owe something to somebody, he should speak out, so that I may make payment to him".

Year 11 Cont'd

In the month of Safar, complains came from the governors of the Muslims in Syria and Palestine about the oppression they faced from Rome. Palestine and Syria were under the colonies of Rome.

1/14
The Prophet had tried to resolve this amicably to no avail. Recall that he sent 3,000 men in the Battle of Mu'tah & himself once led 30,000 men to Tabuk. Their obstinacy forced him to dispatch another army, under the leadership of Usamah, who was not more than 20 yrs old.

2/14
Usamah bn Zayd had lost his father in the Battle of Mu'tah. Usamah chose a valley in the outskirts of Madinah, called Jurf as their point of departure. The army camped here and were for some reasons delayed from taking off.

Year 10 A. H.

The sharp and pungent proclamation read out by Ali during Hajj season of the ninth year of migration at Mina, on behalf of the Prophet (s) had a very deep and quick effect.

1/13
The tribes of different regions of Arabia, which had so far not submitted to Islam, on account of enmity and grudge, and rather persisted in the illogical rejection, became helpless and sent their representatives to Madinah.

2/13
No less than 72 tribes were sent, & the particulars of each discussion is recorded in history.
In less than 4 months, the entire Hijaz came under the banner of Islam and not a single idol-temple or idol or idolater was left in it.

Year 9 AH. Continued

While the Prophet was away in Tabuk, some hypocrites built a mosque, called Masjidul Zirar near Masjidul Qubah and started parallel prayers.

1/9
The Prophet ordered Masjid Zirar to be razed to the ground, its beams to be burnt, and its rubbish thrown there for some period.

This was a blow to the hypocrites who later broke up. Abdullah bin Ubayy, their sole supporter, died 2 months after the Battle of Tabuk.

2/9
The Prophet (s) was out with his business when he learnt about the condition of his son Ibrahim, so he returned home & took him from his mother, Mariya, placed him on his laps where little Ibrahim died. The Prophet (s) was very much saddened by his death.

A Brief Review of the Story so far

Since today is our 10th day, and the last part just before the main Prophethood, we will take a quick look at some issues so far.

1/14
The miracles of RasuluLlah (s) had started to manifest even before his earthly Prophethood. In fact, his miracles began before his birth. This is referred to as "Irhãsãt", which is differentiated from "Mu'jiza", with the latter occurring in the hands of a Prophet.

2/14
Some of these mind blowing miracles are:

• Protection of his ancestral lineage from sins and zina and their preservation upon the right path.
• Protection of the Ka'bah from destruction by the Yemenite King Abraha. This is mentioned in the Qur'an Sur Fil Q105.

PART 9 #BiographyOfRasul

The Dawn of Prophethood

Life in the eyes of the Prophet (s) seemed unreal. He was a unique jewel in the midst of mere gravels.

Ignorance was wide spread, and nearly everyone had abandoned honorable character.

1/10
It was an age of ignorance (Nahiliyyah) in which, generally speaking, moral rectitude & spiritual code had gone into oblivion.

Superstitious rites & dogmas had replaced the tenets of the Divine religion. Only a few (his ancestors) remained upon the religion of Ibrahim.

2/10
Arabians engaged in unnecessary fights, gambling, adultery and unfairness in all dealings.

The Qur'an informs us of their level of thinking; "And they say: There is nothing but our life of this world; we live and die and nothing but time annihilates us". (Qur'an, 45:24)

His Adulthood

Not just him, but everyone in the family in which he was born possessed
elements of heroism and bravery. He was strong, healthy and now rich.

1/14
He led a life of prudence and generosity. This was not the norm with most Arabians at the time. It made their home a center of cynosure, a beacon of hope for the poor and needy, who always hovered around them. He and his beautiful wife always kept the help coming.

2/14
There was a drought and famine during which the Prophet & his wife set a new pace for philanthropy.

His foster mother, Halima also came to visit during this time and he used to place his cloak beneath her feet and show her maximum love and care.

She loved him dearly too.

The Prophet Meets Nana Khadijah

After the incident of the Christian monk who advised Abu Talib not to go with Rasulullah to Syria, Abu Talib sold his goods at cheaper rate in Basra in order to return home.

1/14
Abu Talib inherited the acts of providing food/water for pilgrims from his father Abdul Muttallib, which costs him.

Additionally, the Quraysh battle attracted more spendings.

Now, the battles have subsided and trading resumed, but Abu Talib was in a financial crises

2/14
So, he suggested that the Prophet (s) introduces himself to one of the wealthiest people of Quraysh, a Lady, Khadija bint Khuwaylid.

Khadija always employed merchants for her business and was in search of an honest merchant.

She heard about the Prophet (s),

His Adolescence/First Battle

The Prophet (s) was 15 years old already and signs of strength, bravery, firmness and wisdom were already obvious in his face and ways.

1/8
The Arabs of the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyya) spent the whole year in fighting and plundering. However, they don't fight in the four
sacred months in a year (ie. Rajab, Dhul Qa'd, Dhul Haj and Muharram).

During this time, they open their trade markets

2/8
This conventant was held at high esteem by the Arabs. These times afforded them serenity, peace and harmony.

A misunderstanding brewed up between the Arabs which later manifested into the 4th Fujar Battle [it is named so because it violates the afformentioned conventant].

His Childhood - II

Now Rasulullah is under the care of his dignified Mother, Sayyada Aminah.

Since Aminah lost her loving husband she had been waiting for an opportunity to go to Yathrib, now known as Madina.

1/14
She wanted to see with her own eyes the resting-place of her beloved husband and in the meantime, see her relatives in that city.

Since the Prophet (s) had become of age, she decided to carry him along. She was also accompanied by Umm Ayman and they spent a month there.

2/14
The weather of Madina usually made visitors fall sick due to change of environment, and this was the same case with the young Prophet (s) and his mother.

This added to the grief of seeing 'AbduLlah's resting place.

Amina had been telling him (s) a lot about his father.

His Childhood - I

The Prophet was suckled by his mother for a few days, whereafter two other women had the honour
of being his foster-mothers ie. Thuwaibah and Halimah as Sa'diyyah.

1/14
The former was the slave of Abu Lahab and one of the nurses of the Prophet's uncle Al Abbas. She suckled Rasulullah (s) for about four months. The latter was from Banu Sa'd.

It was customary for noble families amongst the Arabs to entrust their
children to wet nurses.

2/14
This was for 3 main reasons
A. Safeguard the children from contagious diseases of Makkah, since it was a busy hub of the Hijaz.
B. Afford the children an opportunity to learn authentic Arabic from the suburb villages.
C. Help them build immunity against these diseases.

His Naming (s)

After the birth of the Prophet (s) he was taken to his grandfather, 'Abdul Muttallib. The latter was particularly fond of 'AbduLlah, the late father of Rasulullah. He once sacrificed 100 camels

1/10
as ransom over his oath to sacrifice his 11th son, which turned out to be 'AbduLlah, his favorite.

Abdul Muttallib was an eminent leader of the Quraysh. He was very handsome and upright. He had played an important role in the Battle of the Elephant, 30-50 days earlier.

2/10
He was indeed glad to see Rasulullah (s). He held him and took him into the Ka'bah and made du'a for him, while praising Allah 'azza wa jalla.

His mother, Amina (r) as well as Thuwaibah, the freed slave of Abu Lahab both suckled him,

The Birth of Rasulullah (s)

The light of the Prophet (s) is the first thing Allah (awj) created. Although there are differences in this issue, but if being the first creature is an honor,

1/14
then we are more inclined to confirming it upon the most honored of all creatures, Muhammad (s).

Ali bn Abi Talib, Al Abbas, Umar bn Khattab, & Jabir bn AbdiLlah all narrated ahadith that back this point.

The popular hadith of Abu Hurairah (r), collected by Tirmidhi (r)

2/14
has a lesson in this regards:

قالوا: يا رسول الله متى وجبت لك النبوة؟ قال: “وآدم بين الروح والجسد”

The was asked: when where you made a prophet? He answered "while Adam AS was between soul and body".

بل كان نبيا ولا آدم ولا ماء ولا طين

Why Learn Sīrah of the Prophet (s)?

Sīrah (story) of the Prophet (s) aids you in knowing the him (s). If you don't know him, you will never be able to deliver your responsibilities towards him (s).

1/10
Your responsibilities towards the Rasūl (s) according to the Judge Iyādh (544H d) are:

• To believe in him
• To follow his example
• To love and revere him
• To honor, venerate, & respect him
• To assist him and yeild to his call

2/10
These are his RIGHTS upon every Muslim, and as you already know, rights are subject to question by Allāh Jallā wa 'Alā on the day of judgment.

These rights can hardly be delivered with justice, except for the one who knows the Prophet (s).
