I wept as I heard our ancestors referred to as inventory. I wept again when I saw the shackles for children. It became even more real for me to see the instruments they used to keep us bound. Full video on IGTV
This is America. The part they try to erase from the history books. They love to talk about old glory, truth is Black people have suffered just as much under the American flag as the confederate. Tell the whole story, or don’t tell it at all.
We are done with your revisionist history of this brutally flawed nation.

If America wants to be better, own up to your transgressions and actually build a system of equity. A system of liberty and justice for all. Until then we will challenge you.

Three years ago, I was arrested for the very thing I’m being praised for today.

The lesson is to stay consistent, to be disciplined, and stand in truth.
Three years ago I was arrested for speaking truth to power. A lot of people take this advocacy thing for fun, and notoriety. There is nothing fun about your family being concerned about your well being.
There is nothing fun about being blocked out of opportunities because you spoke the truth. There is nothing fun about being a target for daring to speak like I and so many others do while being Black. How do I know it’s because I’m Black?
