William and Julia Moulden attended Sunday Mass at Villanova regularly. During the week, William worked the couple’s farm in Radnor. Julia cooked, cleaned, and washed clothes for the white students and priests at the college. 1/11
On Sundays they did not work for others; they dressed in their best to attend Mass. As a Black couple walking into an all-white church—Julia and William turned heads. Especially when Julia wore a striking green silk dress to mark the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day. 2/11

While participating in a zoom call with colleagues meant to highlight ways to prioritize physician wellness in the time of COVID, I added to the chat: “What I find most difficult is mitigating the impact of COVID and racism simultaneously.” 🧵1/8
The attendants were mainly White, the session was led by a White Man - all individuals I had the pleasure of working with over several years - and the comment went unnoticed. 2/
Everyone contd to type and speak up about waking up at 6AM for that morning run and prioritizing physical activity, yoga and healthy cooking as if the comment wasn’t there. 3/
We wanted to round off the #fivexmoreaw20 awareness week with a series of asks and a list of what we want to see change. These statistics have been rising for decades and it’s completely unacceptable (THREAD) 
What do we want: Close the gap. We want the NHS to commit to a target of bringing the numbers down with a CLEAR PLAN OF ACTION SPECIFIC FOR BLACK WOMEN
What do we want: For more health professionals to be aware of these statistics, disparities and injustices so they can give targeted care for Black women
Right now: protesters are kicking off a “fuck the police” march in DC.
Beforehand though, they’re holding a mutual aid station where they’re handing food and other resources and even giving massages to people in need.

The activists at DuPont Circle have been waiting for allies of theirs that have been holding a #BlackWomenMatter march throughout DC.
